Hello there! This is Julie Avard, using David's account. I wanted to tell all our friends out there...

I GOT ACCEPTED TO VETERINARY SCHOOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I finally got into Kansas State! School starts August 17th, so I won't see you National-ites going to Lincoln since I'll be busy in September, and for the next four years. Hopefully, I can catch everyone the next time we visit out there.

I hope everyone is also having a happy new year,

Julie

Congratulations!! :gpower:

As long as I've known you and David, you've trying to get in. Does this cancel the plans to move to Lincoln?

Congrats Julie. Now you will be able to treat the "Avard cat" who has been so poorly treated by your guests in the past!

She could probably treat several of us, dogs that we are.

But as for Mako's ex-wife... Just because we call her a b*tch sometimes doesn't mean.....

Something like $7,000 in oral surgery ... so that the cat could live for a few more months while being feed thru a stomach tube, it only had half a jaw left ... while not enjoying life at all. :unimpressed:

it's hard to understand that kind of commitment if you're not a pet owner.

I kinda question your bill for the cat, if i would have done the same for my dog, but he's only 4 years old. I don't want to think about when he gets older.. :(

We, er, my ex, got sucked into it a bit at a time ... plus we had some insurance that paid for some of the first bills. But, Your Honor, I did not agree on that final major surgery to combat the cancer. That cat lived to eat, so it was foolish to have it live for a while longer when it could no longer feed itself. Plus it had diabetes ...

$2k and a lost christmas eve/christmas on the kitten my then-to-be wife got me. But he rewards me every day now by scarring my feet twice a night, puking on the carpet every day and causing my wife 24hr congestion.

He's also an embarassment at the vet. He's 20+lbs of blubber despite that I barely feed him and so unrulely they need to have a large orderly present (think mental institution).

And I know deep down he's going to live to 30.

We got a very young dobie/shephard mix puppy in 1995. Smaller than the cats when we got him, but grew to 95 pounds of sweet, snuffling, snoring dog. Four years later, he started having seizures. Full neurological work-up and three days in ICU at All-Care Animal Hospital: $1,600. About four years after that, he had a stomach torsion requiring surgery: $2,000. In May of 2006, with failing kidneys we had to have him put down. But for 11 years, we had the company of a wonderful dog. Hard to put price on that.

Congrats Julie - I know you've been wanting this for a long time and you'll make a great Vet. Hope my huskies can come meet you someday.

Julie really is a going to make a great Vet. Its very exciting.

Vet school is tough though. Its going to be a lot of pain and sacrifice over the next 4 years. But very rewarding too.
