13.4 WHEELS
Any type wheel may be used provided it complies with the following:
it is the same width and diameter as standard, and as installed
(including wheel spacers if applicable) it does not have an offset
more than +/- 0.25 inch from a standard wheel for the car. The
resultant change in track dimensions is allowed.
Wheel spacers are permitted, provided the resultant combination
complies with the offset requirements of this section. Wheel studs,
lug nuts, and/or bolt length may be changed.

Vehicles equipped with rims having metric specifications may use
alternate rims as determined by using the following procedure:
Diameter: converting the metric measurement to inches and using
the nearest smaller inch diameter rim.
Width: converting the metric measurement to inches and using
the nearest smaller 1/2-inch width rim. Offset and track

14.4 Wheels
A. Any wheels are allowed with widths up to the follow:
ST, STS - 7.5"

Thoughts? My interpretation of the rules is that the ST rules are an addition. Therefore the wheel must be 7.5" wide max (ST rule), but the offset must be +-5 from standard size (stock rule)

I read it as saying any wheels with the only restriction being width. Any meaning any brand, style, material, diameter, offset, etc.

For STX (and maybe STU), the 2008 rulebook separately mentioned offset, but the 2009 rulebook now uses the same simplified wheels section for all ST* classes with no mention of offset.

Under your interpretation I think most, if not all, of the popular wheels for an STX WRX would now be illegal.

Wheel offset is not restricted in ST.

ST wheel material is somewhat restricted, non-metallic wheels are forbidden.

If that's the case then simple arithmetic will tell you that 1 inch= 25.4 mm. Therefore 25.4 divided by 4 equals 6.35 mm, not 5 mm.

Even if we were in Bizarro-CCA,
The 7.5" SSR Comps most of the ST Civics use have a 43mm offset, so even with a 1/4" spacer, the resulting combination is still within +/- 1/4" from stock offset (40mm).

Emilio is working on some 15x7.5s, 4x100, +40 but won't be ready till June 2009. According to his website they'll be about $200/wheel which is a pretty good deal and the estimated weight is 10.4lbs.

Ever try to order a 36.35mm offset?

Similar to trying to decide between the 17/32 or 9/16 socket. Heck, maybe the 14 mm works just fine. Trying to use the standard system requires a calculator to decide which size to use. That's why my favorite tool is the hammer. It just doesn't take "no" for an answer.

Where do you get simple thin basic spacers. I have 3mm. I'd like some simple 5mm. Don't need studs and nuts or a Porsche price tag.

Stock class permits use of added/replacement spacers, wheel studs, and lug nuts. Restriction is wheel must have resulting offset +/- 1/4" from stock. You could conceivably use a 25mm spacer and be legal in Stock, as long as your wheel had an offset ~19-~31mm greater than the stock wheel.

ST's "ANY WHEEL" allowance lifts the restriction on offset, diameter, and width, but for the explicit restrictions imposed in ST, STS, and STX.

Steve, Summit Racing has 1/8" and 1/4" universal spacers for <$7/ea.

I might have some then.... Pretty sure I have some for each from Summit. Just they are sitting in the Barracuda Tire and Wheel section, not the Honduh wing. Was thinking they wouldn't work with 4 lug baby patterns. Will check... Thanks!!!
