This was in the Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada) area. Another useful "trick" to learn and use on the street from autox.......no loose items.

yeah ... I always put a blanket over the jack stands, jack, tool box, etc. in the back of our Miata Support Van when we're off to the races. :( :unimpressed:

Hmmm....let's see a collision with those items at freeway speeds......could be a bad, bad day.

Good thing we are, hopefully, a bit better at avoiding collisions in the first place, no?

A blanket? You might want to put them in a storage box.

And I'm belted safely in the back seat with a piece of surgical tubing that goes from the tap to my mouth.

The blanket was joke. It would have to be a very large and inconveniently heavy storage box. Tool case, jack, jack stands, cooler, camera bag, tripod, tires/wheels, fold up chairs, etc. etc. They could all kill. The van IS the storage box.

I do have one of those big heavy construction site strong boxes, further weighed down with barbell weights, to store our guns. Who knew Karen was also into pistols! :)

A top cinematographer was just gravely injured when he had an accident with his motorcycle and his laptop, in his backpack, hit him in the back of the neck ... apparently breaking his neck!

From another forum:
One of my best friends as a teenager was killed by stereo speakers sitting loose on the shelf behind the rear car seat suddenly propelled forward in an accident. Old car, no headrests. One should always load a vehicle with an eye to what would happen in a sudden stop.
