Yeah: 4 national races, 3 times the car has broken

Well, first tried using a local guy's STS car, but the beat-up 13" Hoosiers on Panasports that Dawn Maxwell lent us wouldn't fit, so we then borrowed Mike Heinitz's car running said Hoosiers.

Well that explains the not so much of a whompin' on the locals (and Jay and Ken). I had expected you to outrun Doug and Elliott in DSP.

How were the course/venue/town/food (wait, nevermind about the food )etc?

Sucks about the car, but dude seriously, you need to get that sucker more reliable...seriously. :unimpressed:


P.S. Now you are only 1 win away from the "Triple Crown". I think that's pretty cool. I'll be rooting for you at Nationals. :king:

Course was a too tight first half, followed by a faster, well flowing 2nd half that was then made into a nice, flowing course throughout for the 2nd day.

Venue was only 12.5 acres, I believe, but had a really nice upward tilt to it that made it really fun (think Qualcomm).

Only saw a bit of Farmington Sat. night driving to the restaurant, so can't really say what it was like - seemed to have a bit of cool funk to it, though. The area around the site had a carnival, don't know if that's a permanent thing or not, that looked like it would've been fun to go to. The area in general seems to be very economically depressed - a pretty bad shanty town across from the site.

Found a great place to eat! Three Rivers Restaurant and Brewery http://www.threeriversbrewery.com/ In addition to this, they have a separate pool hall and pizza joint - takes up nearly the whole block! Cool place. Good beer. My Ahi steak was very good.

Folks putting on the race were great people and worked very hard to make it a successful event; I wish for their sake they had a bigger turnout.

Dude, if you only knew how much work I've put into it to try and make it reliable this year! I fried my battery, may have destroyed my ECU and new $$$ alternator, and that was AFTER spending 30 min. trying to get it to start!!! You can't believe how both rewarding and fun it is to drive and yet something that I sometimes want to sink to the bottom of the Rio Grande!!!

Course was very tight on day 1, hence the cone trouble for many people. They used San Diego region-like cones on the course, so many of them had holes and were black, unusual for a national event. The racers were largely local, I think the economy is holding back the travelers which hits this event hard. But I was still surprised not to see more from Phx, Colorado or any from Oklahoma and Texas.

Venue was nice, surface was very california speedway like. They squeezed a lot of course on a lightly small patch. It seems like they wasted a lot of space in the grid/timing area, about 1/3 of the lot.

We only hit one local color place and it was pretty good. There was plenty of good looking local places around.

Course was a little narrow on Saturday, but opened up and flowed better on Sunday. I found the surface to have more grip than SD or LA, or maybe the elevation and lack of power made it feel that way.
As Bill mentioned, the 3 Rivers Brewery was the place to be for food & drinks.

Maybe it was distortion of the picture caused by the wide-angle lens, but parts of that course were crazy tight. I don't know if I could get Moby through some of those gates at anything over 10 mph or so.
