No privacy needed, I'm just need someone who can get a straight answer to ask if they're ever going to offer Yellows for the latest-gen (08/09/10) WRX.Jonathan Lugod wrote:yeah whats your question?![]()
you can PM me if you need privacy but I can help you out as best as i can.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like it takes a long time before the big guys offer shocks for a new model fitment.Kurt Rahn wrote:No privacy needed, I'm just need someone who can get a straight answer to ask if they're ever going to offer Yellows for the latest-gen (08/09/10) WRX.Jonathan Lugod wrote:yeah whats your question?![]()

Actually, I've been watching the boards like a hawk. I've actually been chatting with the guy who sent examples of his front strut and rear shock to Koni for R&D too.Mako Koiwai wrote:Have u checked on Nasioc ... lots of forums 2 check: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I would check in motorsports > autocross, or suspension
I was all set to get a Mini, but the 2010s use BMW's scheisse e-diff, instead of offering the mechanical LSD offered in 2009 and before. That might be a deal breaker right there, but I'm still debating with myself. I'd love to get the Shelby. Given the understeer on the WRX, I'd say adjustable dampers are a must, which is why I'm trying to figure out whether Koni's gonna offer them off-the-shelf. Just weighing the options.Robert Puertas wrote:Kurt, you don't need another white whale. Stay away from Subes.
Get a Mini or better yet, Mike Wood's Mustang.
+1 hereKJ Christopher wrote:Kurt - Get the Mustang. Stay away from the WRX.
Yeah. I was really enjoying the idea of $130 per tire (17 x 7 wheels). For The Whale I'm paying about $200, and for a Shelby (18 x 8.5) w/ 295s it'd be waaaaaaay more than that. Owie. Ahm so confuuuuuuused!Steve Ekstrand wrote:Have you considered your tire budget with regards to any of these car options???
Turncoat!Mako Koiwai wrote:I agree
Yeah, but you could find a co-driver to share costs pretty easily with the Mustang.Kurt Rahn wrote:Yeah. I was really enjoying the idea of $130 per tire (17 x 7 wheels). Yeah Mike's car is about as good an all around deal as you can get. It sounds perfectly set up. If it works out, I may be going up to SFR in Oct. to co-drive with him. I'd love to get a car with a good amount of power to make up for my additional...uh...payload. Only think I can't figure is how financing works for a used car. I've only bought cheap used cars with cash. How hard is it to get a loan for a used car?Sebastian Rios wrote:Overheard: "Mike's car is the lowest Shelby Mustang I've ever seen." }:)
That car is sweet, it would be a great fit for you, I think you'd fit right in with the crowd.
True, it'll be less competitive nationally in DS (though ironically its PAX improves by .01), but in SK2 here locally, it's dominant and will only get tougher given the easier PAX. Honestly, I'm pulled in three different directions at this point. I'm hoping that I find some sort of cosmic clarity as the time draws near.Sebastian Rios wrote:P.S. The Mini is going to get reclassed to DS, where it will not be as competitive. The Shelby will continue to dominate FS for a few more years in my opinion.
I've heard the stories about the Mini being hard on its front tires. It seems like that applies more to R-comps (particulalry Hoosiers, I'm guessing), as Adrian doesn't seem to have much of a problem with tire life on his Star Specs. Unless I get a sweet co-drive gig, I'm probably not going to drive anything on R-comps anytime in the near future. If I move up from SK2, it'll probably be into the ST/STS/STX/STU ranks.Steve Ekstrand wrote:My understanding is that the Mini and the WRX cord in no time at all due to lack of camber. A problem with a lot of stock class cars, but not all.
Not sure about the Mustangs other than the factory helps you cheat in drag racing....
