how tall are you and how much does the kart weigh without driver?

I am 6'1" / 190 lbs, driver who won Nationals is 5'10" / 155 lbs.

Kart weighs 199 lbs dry without driver. Driver + kart must weigh-in at 405 lbs using this engine configuration. If you are underweight it's made up by bolting lead weight to the kart.

KJ is a big guy.... :)

Is there any way to reduce weight on the kart? Also, is the lbs with any weight penalties like programmable ignition or front brakes???
Also there foot porches right, for really long legs?

At 199, there isn't much on it that isn't necessary.
405 is with the penalty for the programmable ignition, 385 without. All 125 shifters have front brakes. You usually buy a chassis with the front porch on it, but it could be added.

That's the good thing about a kart.
Your knees and elbows just stick out further...

I drove Eric's old kart once. At 6'-2", 245, it wasn't a problem.

At 6'4", this kart would need to be specifically set up for you, with the correct seat and original Tony Kart porch extension. With that you would be as comfortable as anybody, but you'd still be coming in ~ 40 lbs overweight. But, the motor is pretty strong... :)

Tom Harrington was an honest 6'4" and at least 215 lbs. Only one of his wins was under P.I. rules; prior to that he used to demolish most of his competition while running about 30 lbs (around 8%) heavier than everyone else, with no power advantage. So, it can be done.

I remember an old movie about moon shine runners ... saying that cars that weighed more "handled" better. That was before ST cars proved THAT theory wrong!

If by handling you mean "just keeps on goin' stright ahead, even when ah turns the wheel."

Yeah, "Ground Hugging Weight", like the pre-war Indy Cars. HAHAHA!

In this kart's case, it's all about power-to-weight ratio. You can afford to lose a little in turns to weight, as long as you're making it up elsewhere...
