That may be an option. Lily ordered a Actron Adjustable one but it won't be here for another week. Trying to get the car smogged this weekend so I can give back Ken's cat.

if it doesn't pass call us about our "e85 fix"

you know that you can pay the registration without the smog and then you have all the time you want to pass smog...i went 4 months with my subaru, just being lazy...

I tried to pay registration but since this smog test is part of completing the registration process (Due to change of ownership) DMV won't allow me to pay the registration until the Smog certificate is obtained. :(

I do. Could leave it with Stacey so you could pick it up tomorrow. Might be able to tell you where in the garage it is if you need it today. But I'm going out of pocket for several hours beginning at 2pm.

Good luck Mike. Don't worry about the cat- just focus on passing. If you have the stock exhaust manifold, try putting that on as it retains heat better. New O2 sensor, retard timing to 16 BTDC and a couple bottles of rubbing alcohol in the tank. If you don't have an OEM exhaust manifold, try wrapping what you got with some material that retains the heat. Collectively, we should be able to offer enough advice to pass. Ask Lugod how many attempts it took. I passed on my second try and I changed a lot of stuff. New spark plugs as well.

Call me Saturday if you need help. You can borrow my open trailer if you need to.

On that note, anyone have a stock exhaust? I got pulled over several months ago driving the Civic on the fwy to SD. Need to "fix" the exhaust's loudness. I'll gladly return it when the inspection is done.

yo ken... i have the stock "mid" pipe. But no rear section. You dont have any CHP or Officer friends? I have one that signs off my fix it tickets but he likes to keep things between the two of us to not draw too much attention.

see whats mine is yours!!! thats acutally my midpipe!!

anyways..for ken i have a full muffler and redshift midpipe that comes together that should be under 95 we can test it before if you want...

also....leslie cohen runs a street legal exhaust on her civic im sure they wouldnt notice if you borrowed it...i think its a RSR exhaust...

lastly...scott mchugh also runs a stockish HKS exhaust which should also pass..

LEslie may be your best bet

Yea i've got all the stock components. I threw the factory header back on and got a new o2 sensor. The car doesn't get driven often so the plugs, wires, and oil have less than 500 miles on them. I just have to get timing right it appears.

LOL. The saying goes, "mi casa es su casa."

Actually Leslie runs a Thermal Research exhaust. I gotta find what the rules are for passing sound. Maybe Flores might be my best bet since I live somewhat in the proximity. Does your redshift muffler have enough clearance for the big fat RSB of mine? I could always just pull of the RSB though..

just for reference for everyone..

In some states (including california), noise limits for modified exhaust systems are established by a SEMA model bill (attached) and applicable to an easy to administer test standard. The SEMA model provides for the testing of vehicle exhaust noise to a standard adopted by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) with an established noise limit of 95-decibels (SAE J1169). Under the SAE standard, a sound meter is placed 20 inches from the exhaust outlet at a 45-degree angle and the engine is revved to three quarters of maximum rated horsepower. The highest decibel reading is then recorded.
