That's not dumb...that's the key question. You're not gonna get much more power out of a muffler. Weight reduction is the big advantage.

Kurt is right. This is quite a bit lighter than the stock Miata muffler, which could be used as an anchor for a small boat.

I've been at the interwebs recently trying to lock in an exhaust upgrade for that purpose: losing weight. Best I've found is the Roadstersport at 12.4 lbs, but it's $300. I'm cheep like that and don't wanna pay that much for something that well-made and light weight.

Honestly though I don't really feel like spending that much when I'm pretty sure it could be done without so much flash for less dinero.
Let me make sure I can pay before I commit to it. if someone else comes along let it go, but if by my next check things work out and it's still around I'll pick it up at the feb. event.

random ?...would you happen to know someone who could also weld this thing up? maybe cut a new flange, too? would prefer to keep the stock canister intact.
Thanks.

John Coffey at Beta Motorsports can do that kind of work. How soon you get it depends on how busy he is, being a one-man shop.

np, SK2, c stock. Figure the last thing I can do within class limits is the exhaust. Can't do the midpipe since it's welded but I figure at the axle could at least shave some weight. 12/13lbs is much better than 24/25.

muffler by itself weighs about 7.5 lbs; with a 90-degree section and a turndown and a couple of flanges it should right around 12.
I'll drop by the event around 10 on Sunday; I'll be in my Toyota Pickup, aka, the Red Rat.
