I'm sorry, I haven't looked at a lot of fast tracks but the 'Not Recommended' is denying people's suggestions?

Fair warning to all CSCC competitors: We are discussing implementing sound monitoring at all of our events.

And that is what I asked for. Late model inexpensive car with a low build cost. In EP the cost to prep the car just jumped by as much as the price of the car. :unimpressed:

Not a big deal for a kart. We have no problem passing in SD. Can be marginal without an airbox (muffles intake noise), but with one it's not an issue. Most of us already have the quiet muffler since there was a popular track that required it. Plus our mufflers have a turn down tip and we can rotate it to what ever direction we want.

I don't know what slow weighting means, but 100db seems super loud.

slow response means the meter averages the sound over 5 seconds vs 1 sec for fast response.

Mine says its a 1 sec average for Slow, and a peak measurement taken for 125 mS on Fast.

5 seconds just doesn't seem right. That's an eternity!

I think what Jason's meter has is the standard slow/fast response time.*

we're about 96db@50' when measured from the side. about 99db @50' from behind.

Yeah, Toby's car has been at about 105db since the summer. he just threw a full length exhaust back on it for this last event. The full exhaust passes in SD, but most people wouldn't even notice.

My bone stock exhaust was rated at 104dB by Car and Driver magazine. It is street legal, passes DOT limits, California Smog Test, but is not autocross legal according to the new SCCA guidelines.

My Cayman S was measured (using the SCCA method) at 96 dB in San Diego tow months ago, bone stock exhaust system. My former GT3 RS does not pass sound at Laguna Seca, it registers 98 dB on the stock mufflers.

I wouldn't put much time/$ into that build just yet, as that's not what I remembered sending to the SEB.

Glad to hear that Eric. I don't mind a little creative thinking, but promoting a 39 year old car by listing it on the same line for update/backdate as a late '80s turbocharged car doesn't seem... healthy for the class.

I can't help but wonder how excited 240Z owners are at the prospect of a 2300 lb car with that kind of power, virtually an SSM FrankenZ in BSP livery. Hopefully a correction is listed quickly...
