OC Great Park's Faded Great Balloon to be Improved

Construction projects approved @El Toro:
Big Improvements on the Way to OC's Great Park

Phase one plan:

You can see a picture of the master plan here:

The master plan only shows a small section of runway left in the middle. Does that mean by 2011, we might not be racing there anymore?

With parks, trails, lakes, botanical gardens, and retail services being planned, it doesn't look like any sort of automotive racing would be in El Toro's future.

Based on how well they've done so far, I'd be surprised if they were anywhere close to that date.

That's not a bad street circuit in the model drawing

Naw, we wouldn't want to get in the way of "Promenade of the "Senses". :P

Look in the "Solo Talk" forum for a link I posted in early November. I think we're safe for at least several more years.

Actually, here it is. http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... 8997.story

Interesting.......it works when I click it in the "Solo Talk" forum (see Nov 12). Apparently some issue with copy/paste.

I took my son in it about a year ago. It went up, then down. Not much to look at around there. It's hard to go 500ft in the air and not impress a 3 year old, but the ballon did it.

There was kind of ardous process to ride it. I think it was a week day and just a few people were there, employees (mostly high schoolers getting some community service points for thier collage apps). But you walk to the ballon, read the sign that you need to first sign in at the registration table (although there was nobody in line at the ballon). Walk maybe 600ft back to the reg trailer, where there was no customers. Sign in, and they give you a resturant pager to go wait outside until they could give you a "flight pass". By the time we got to the bottom of the stairs our pager went off. So they gave us the flight pass and some sponsor advertising. Then we walked back to the ballon and got coralled in a waiting area for the next ride. Then finally us and the three others got on the ballon. Nobody even asked for our flight pass. Would have been a lot faster/easier if we just got in line at the ballon.

eh. It's alright. It does really look like crap faded. Don't know how they didn't see that coming.

Pretty funny.... May have violated federal law prohibiting parachute jumps in busy places.....

No. Trust me, its NOT a busy place.

What a bad joke our politicians are.... Who votes for these clowns again? Oh yeah....
