Small crack (1") on the 95 m3 from a rock.

Has anyone had success with any diy repair kits?

Ins will not repair, will only replace subj to deductible.

I really just want it to not spread.

Thanks!

I got a rock chip on my windshield 2 years ago. Then I was in 30 degree weather with the heater on going down a driveway and it turned into a 3 inch crack  I used "Fix a Windshield" on it. It did help some, it made it look smaller, and it did not grow any more. I only tried this stuff because the replacement on my window was so much (stupid auto lights/wipers).

I've used clear nail polish on chips and it's worked wonders. Don't know if it'll work on a crack, though.

Bob, have you tried your local car wash. Everytime I bring the Mini in, I get pitched to patch the windshield. I've got about three bad areas. They quoted $40.

Hmm,

10 min work & a buck in materials, I dunno Tom, seems a little steep to me, altho if they warranty that if/when the crack comes back, I get a windshield then I'd say fair enough.

There is a guy that he does windshield repairs for cheap ~$180 - if you are going to spend $90 to repair - you are better of spending $180 and have a new windshield...
I was quoted $420 for my Saab (back when I had my Saab - since Saabs are rare) and this guy still only wanted $180.
I already have three friends that changed front or rear windshield without any problems...
