El Toro Pro Solo.......You Think Reguar Autox Is Fun!

The Pro Solo format is BY FAR the most fun you can have autoxing. I've talked to many of you who are new to the sport about this and many have signed up. If I haven't spoken to you personally, let me tell you what you'll miss if you decide not to join us.
The Pro Solo format combines the best of drag racing and autox. Competitors will line up side by side and stage, just like at the drag strip. Your heart will begin to pound as you watch the count down on the timer. Once timer hits zero, you'll rev your engine and prepare for launch. Yellow, yellow, yellow, better drop the clutch, green, and you're smoking the tires trying to get the best 60' launch you can, Once at the 60', you'll split off onto mirrored autox courses and race to the finish. WOW!

Whether your new to autox or not, this is a blast. Since this only comes around once a year, I'm sorry I missed my first opportunity to experience Pro Solo Racing. Since my first try, I've never missed another.
The dates are April 16,17,18. Friday the 16th consists of explaining the format to new folks, making practice starts, a welcome BBQ provided free of charge where you'll meet fellow competitors and chat about your launch times, followed by two days of racing on Saturday and Sunday. All this for only $99. WOW again!
But you have to hurry. Early entry deadline is Friday, April 2 @ 2PM. After that the price may go up some, so please get your entry in by the early entry deadline.

If you don't do another autox this year, don't miss this one!
Be sure to come early for the practice launches and BBQ. See you there.

An emphatic +1
I did this for the first time last year, and it's autocross plus. Because you take two back-to-back runs at a time, and your opponent is visible and driving a mirrored course at the same time, the adrenaline level is through the roof. If you can make this event, DO!

George, you noted the Friday practice for newbies included in the entry fee. Is this different that the Friday Evo school which is $25?

My mistake Arthur. There is a fee for the Evo school on Friday and that fee I believe includes some practice starts. Or you can forgo the Evo and just buy practice starts. I never did the school, but I think it might be worth it. Practice starts, if I recall, were about $5 each. I'm sure Robert Puertas will chime in with the details. If he doesn't respond in a day or two, send him a PM and ask him to answer in this thread.

Do the Evo Hole Shot!! I did it last year, and it was worth way more than they're charging. They go through how everything works beforehand, so you never feel intimidated or like you're going to do something stupid and hold everything up. Plus, you get a bunch of practice starts. In fact for the class I was in, we got more than $25 of just practice starts.

I'd avoid actually smoking the tires at the start...
But they do allow burnouts within the very small approved zone after the car ahead clears the line.

Depends on the car. If you don't smoke an S2000, you're not going anywhere fast.

Come to think of it, you're not going anywhere fast in either case with my car. Even when you get right, it's launch is tortoise like.

El Toro California SCCA Pro Solo - Evo Hole Shot
The Evo Hole Shot program is designed to help those who are relatively new to the whole Pro Solo game. This school explains the entire Pro Solo experience. Where to grid, when to grid, what to do between runs, how to stage, and of course the tree. In this program you will actually be able to take practice starts with an Evolution Instructor right by your side. Allowing the student to really be comfortable with the whole Pro Solo experience, and the beauty of this program is, it's just $25. This program is open to just 20 students.
1:30pm-2:00pm Drivers Meeting
2:00pm-3:00pm Practice Start Instruction
3:00pm-3:30pm Wrap Up Meeting

I highly recommend the Evolution School for the ProSolo.
I did it last year with Dave Newman and Pat Salerno, there were a lot of stuff I learned about staging, the tree, 60ft time and so one.
I highly recommend the ProSolo, I like it more than the autocross, because I get to drive 6 laps on the same course, and a total of 12 laps for the weekend, or even more if you qualify for the Challenge.
It is the most fun, Drag Racing and autocross all together.
