License suspended & reinstated - a story

Someone I know well was rear ended on an on ramp. CHP responded etc. 100% fault of car behind. Zero bodily injury.

Several thousand damages to both. Insurance company sends forms to report incident to DMV.

Having ignored this "requirement" several times myself, I told my friend to shine it.

About 4 months later DMV sends a letter "We heard you were in an accident & did not tell us, yadayada.

Filled out the DMV form (enclosed).

A month later two letters arrive from DMV with a revocation of driving privledge & a reinstatement both dated the same day.

Go figure. Anyway I guess we all better start reporting fender benders to DMV.

Big Brother is watching.

:(

•Report the accident to the DMV within 10 days, if there is more than $750 in damage to the property of any person, or anyone is injured (no matter how slightly) or killed.

I always ignore them. I'd rather say oops rather than open myself up to scrutiny. Looks like there was no harm no foul in this case.

I am not sure if the revoke/reinstate is a "Blemish" on the dmv records?

;)
