Walk for Autism

Hello all... I am asking for support for Autism in the form of donations to my 5K Walk for Autism. This is the second time I have done the walk and will be walking as part of the Gap Inc. Team, which means that all donations will be matched through Gap's EasyMatch program that is designed to allow Gap employees to donate time to charities.

Some facts about Autism: (courtesy of AutismSpeaks.org)
-Autism now affects 1 in 110 children and 1 in 70 boys
-Autism prevalence figures are growing
-More children will be diagnosed with autism this year than with AIDS, diabetes & cancer combined
-Autism is the fastest-growing serious developmental disability in the U.S.
-Autism costs the nation over $35 billion per year, a figure expected to signifcantly increase in the next decade
-Autism receives less than 5% of the reasearch funding of many less prevalent childhood diseases
-Boys are four times more likely than girls to have autism
-There is no medical detection or cure for autism

I have known several people in my lifetime that have had autism- ranging from mild-to severe cases. The last time I did the walk in 2007, 1 in 150 children was being diagnosed and now just three years later that figure has gone up without the medical field getting the answers to why and how.

If you would like to make a donation please visit http://www.walknowforautismspeaks.org/l ... ngenkatzen" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; to make a donation on my personal page. The minimum online donation is $20 but you can download a form to send in for amounts smaller than that. Besides being matched by Gap, your donation is also tax-deductible.

Thank you for your time and support.
