At 28k miles the rears are 3/32 fronts 6/32.

I guess stock BMW's wear out the rears first.

Staggered so no f/r rotation

Dealer wants 500 a corner for oem run flats & 200 align (on a car that does not need alignment. So I'm not going near that.

Question is this.

Since the fronts have a lot of wear yet, can I do just the rear axle? No Star Spec or Falken 615k's as this car does not race. I really don't want run flats, cell phone AAA & tire plugs will suffice.

What tire do you like for this application?

Maybe I should go with the Star specs, very nice price.

One of the better Bridgestone all-season tires.

I put exactly the tires Chad is selling for $600 on Stacey's 335i coupe.
Star Specs one size up from the stockers.

Just love them. Really looks good too. Haven't seen a downside. Not sure how wear is since we've only gone about 5K miles on them. But they look brand new.

I hate the run flats. HATE THEM HATE THEM HATE THEM!!!!

If its a lease, they will demand runflats on the car when you turn it in. And the dealer on a trade in will want them on as well so you may consider changing all and keeping them the runflops for later.

Thanks guys,

We own it & plan on driving it many years.

I talked to the service mgr at the new dealer I was at today (new dealer for service, the old one closed). I always make a point of getting to know the SM where I take warranty cars.

I am getting an ext. warranty (not service - just broken parts) - and several sources I have recommend EasyCare. This from a BMW forum & this dealer says it the 3rd party one he likes.

He wasn't pushing selling it either. He says he's on a direct bill with them.

I know there is lots of controversy over these plans, but I have always done ok with them as long as the dealer accepts the plan. BMW parts are $$$$ and so is the labor.

I saw the ones Chad has but I need 17"s smaller.

:)
