Left Foot Brakers, do you use ...

(I can't stand it when the board is this quiet!)

... more aggressive brake pads that like extra heat? Since some left foot brakers seem to practically drag their brakes the length of the course, naturally heating up their pads. Barco's brake lights would be on for the entire lap and his brakes would sometimes be smoking when he came off course ...

Normal stuff, but I don't drag my brakes. I've heard that it can be beneficial on some turbo cars to keep the boost up. I doubt Barco was actually dragging the brake the entire way (light may have been on though), but maybe a little more around corners?

Same pads work fine for Toby and me. He right foot brakes, I left foot brake. I don't drag the brakes, except on the way to the line on my first run so that they'll work at the first corner.

I thought all left foot brakers were superior to the right foot only noobs. How is it then, Aaron, that you are slower than Toby?

It doesn't make a whole lot of difference when you're driving a car that you never want to hit the brakes on.

The real truth is, Gary T would be faster if he left foot brake. You guys that keep using Gary T as your argument against left foot braking is getting old.

What would be the lemming thing to do? Left Foot Brake or Right Foot Brake?

If I don't think about it, I can do the shuffle...left foot brake when needed but still heel-toe downshift. But the second I become conscious of my feet I end up hitting the clutch instead of the gas or the brake instead of the clutch.

I know he does it at pros... We always see the taillights on before the finish. :unimpressed:

Interesting, either it's a recent adoption or I was given mis-info in the past

I think that is part of the 10k optional autox sand pedal package. :heyes:

I wonder how much that option is on a Civie.... Have to ask Washburnski.

It comes standard on all of them; you just have to be good enough to figure out how it works ;)

I have to shuffle all the time due to my car's granny-low gearbox! It's a recently acquired skill, and I have had a couple ugly pieces of driving related to stomping on the wrong pedal, but all in all, I think it's a net gain.
BTW, Toby just doesn't brake. That's how he gets around it. :D If you saw his crazy ass coming in sideways through the lights at El Toro a couple weeks ago, you know what I'm talking about. :o

Barco never had his lights on all the time but he was using his left foot to build boost before exiting the corner.
A lot of people tell me that my lights are on all the time it could be because my car is impossible to drive normally and I have to keep the rear in check by tapping the brakes. I really think it's preference, driving style and you can be fast either way (or fast NOT)...

I think you have it backward, he told me he holds the gas flat and uses the brakes to slow down. That would explain the smoking pads. ;)
