I seem to recall that on another post it was mentioned we get a discount of some sort for buying from Tire Rack by clicking on the link at the bottom of the website. True, or not? I'm in the market for new street tires for my vette and any little bit of savings will help.

There's a banner at the bottom of the forums page, just scroll all the way down.

If you have adblock on, like I did, then it won't show up.

Here's the direct link:
http://www.dpbolvw.net/click-3836590-10402888" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You don't get a discount, but CSCC get's a portion of the proceeds, I forget the percentage though.

This is correct. We receive a commission for any tires purchase through our banner.

We would get more money....
Which means we could lower fees....
Which means more affordable autocross....
Which means more use of autocross tires....
Which means more buying tires at Tirerack....
Which means more money for the region....

This is almost like never getting out of the shower once you've read the instructions on the bottle.....

What tires are you getting for the Vette? We got Falken 452 ...
Currently leaning toward Goodyear Eagle F1 GS D3. The issue is there are lots of good tires but not in good sizes. I'm looking at 255, 275-17 for the front (9.5 wheels) and 285, 295, 305-18 rear (10.5 wheels). No autocross - street only. Don't want 80k , 600 UTOG. Just want decent "spirited" handling, and some semblence of reasonably quiet road noise. Doesn't seem like much to ask. :D

Consider the Continental Extreme Contact DW. A number of the top cars in the One Lap of America were running them. It is very much like a Michelin PS2, without the Michelin price.

Also cost less, and should run circles around the GS D3.

Front, 255, 265, 275 and 285 is available.
Rear, 275, 285 or 295.

I agree... I attended Continental's event a while back at Fontucky, and they seemed quiet, gripped well and had nice predictable breakaway characteristics at the limit. It's a little gimmicky, but they have the "D" and "W" (Dry and Wet) letters molded into the tread, each one extending to a different depth. When that letter wears away, it's not longer considered optimal for that condition.

Come to think of it, I've been on some tires where the sidewall lettering wears away, which tells me they suck for autocrossing. :(

We went with the 452 because Brian Peters had them on the front. When the rear something or others needed to be replaced we stayed with the 452's. Those tires are not available in 275 for the rear, only 265, but, in fact, in 265, they are slightly wider then the 275's that Brian, or perhaps the previous owner, was using as DD. Price was right.

Those Goodyears are terrific rain tires! Also a bit expensive ... a bit squirmy also.

If you want dry performance I would look else where. Nitto's? RA1's?
