Now before anybody gets worked up over the speeds, Saturday's peak was only 1-2mph faster than the SD Tour, and only 4-5mph faster than the El Toro Pro. Sunday was 1-2mph faster than Saturday in a couple spots. But all totally safe, and totally FUN! It is difficult to compare courses between cars, but I can say with certainty, this is the best course I've had the pleasure of driving since owning the Viper. My hat is off to Mike Simanyi for a superb course and Tom Berry and all the region folks for a superb event.

Sunday w/best top speeds but had to stop for down cone:

Sunday's best, still had some big mistakes:

Great video, am surprised though that there was that much shifting requried with powerband that engine has.

Good torque curve but the car is geared too tall (3.07), even for those courses. First does 58-59, second 88-89.

My crappy 2nd run Sat:

Sunday:

I think I was keeping up with jrho on Sunday until I went drifting at the 43 second mark. Also could've used a 2nd gear with about 5 more mph.

You should see if the dealer can fix your transmission... Sucks that you have to hold it in first gear when you down shift.

That reminds me of an R&T article from years ago when they did a skidpad challenge and brought out all kinds of neat cars - good street cars, an autocross car, a kart, an Indy car, and their own cheater sucker car.
Chris O'Donnell was the autocross car, his yellow aluminum-rollbar'd Elan. They found it remarkable how he was flying around at 7000rpm and using left-foot braking to keep the car in line. He also kept his hand on the shifter the whole way around - when asked it was to keep the Lotus from popping out of gear, he replied "No, I'm just trying to hold on!"
I think I know what he meant now...

Please sock it to me ... how is that I'm 5 sec. a lap slower then anyone named Jason? Anything besides the usual "ham fisted" and "mechanical." From what Brian P said, I'm probably driving the cones instead of the exits.
Sat Fastest:

You're lines look ok. Apex speed is too slow. Quit using the brakes so much.

(Why low res?)
OK OK, I see where I went wrong!!!
Toby was so nice and tight where I wanted to be but didn't/wasn't ... wow ... was he fast thru the 1/2 chicago box/slalom! Seemed like he slightly over cooked the Cross Over entry ... or was slightly off line or ?

Awesome course, Mike! Lots of high-speed sweepers making most folks readjust their chassis, pressures, etc. in search of more rear bite!
Here's my first-ever YouTube upload experience...Flip Mino HD mounted to my MR2's grille for that
Rendezvous perspective. This is my best run from Sunday, 91 sec. and change:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xygU9-a_fqg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
There sure is a lot of "Why in the heck did I do that?" in reviewing the footage. Held on to 2nd gear waaaay too long before the second turn-around, and I always charged into the slalom after the Chicago Box too hot, resulting in a slight tank-slapper moment.
I'll definitely get a good camera mount and try some different angles. I really like Jason's [edit: Rhoades; there's three Jasons here!] video, with the view along the side of the car. Mako, your setup is great too...very wide angle and I like the way it shows you from the outside in.

Here are my runs. Saturday was in the BMW, but ran the Audi on Sunday due to a potential mechanical problem in the BMW after Saturday.

Impressive Vincent ... especially considering you were apparently on oem street tires! I'd love to see in camera footage of you wrestling that car ...

If you want to see some awesome driving, watch Toby's hands, like molasses, slow and so controlled, only a couple of corrections. Nice driving Toby!! That is how it is done.

I didn't realize I had a cone penalty on my last run on Sunday ... didn't bother to check during Impound ... my fault ... but my video from my rear racing camera shows no cones where hit. Is it still possible to find out where I supposedly hit a cone?

Yeah, I hit the yellow paint, there was probaly dirt out there too. It's difficult to time things perfect when adrenalin is flowing!

I will take comments on my best run from Sunday which was in the 98 second range. i.e. I have a lot of room to improve.
The lead in is a little long but I love watching the Ferrari launch.

Thanks Jeff, you must have been a good teacher! Jeff used to instruct me at the BMWCCA events, couldn't ask for a better instructor.

Here's mine from SK2:
Day One starts at the beginning.
Day Two is at 2:09...
... and the best parts of my 'blooper' run (where I pushed the car right over the edge... TWICE!) start at 4:12

Thanks Mako. I should upload my "tank-slapper" run (which happened to have my quickest scratch time, too bad I hit a cone in another section of the course) from Sunday as well. I'll try when I get home tonight.

At 1:07 the stand up cone on the left looks to be a good distance away from the pointer. Maybe you just nudged one out of the box.

If you really need to know, I have all the paperwork. While auditing is easier when you do it a little at a time, it sure generates a lot of paper! I think the stack is about 6 inches tall.
