DeWalt 18v Impact Wrench - 300 lbs/ft Torque

I bought this tool a few weeks ago - it's done 6 four wheel change outs on one battery charge. I put the battery on the charger when it just barely showed some reluctance to undo the lugs on the the 24th wheel. I suspect I could have done at least one more 4 wheel change out. Up until then there was no hesitation on undoing lugs torqued to 100 lbs/ft. When tightening, just a couple of bumps of the impact hammer is plenty. A quarter to a half turn left to finish with torque wrench. At $300 for the tool, two batteries and charger, it's not cheap.

Available online is a drill chuck (not brand name) that snaps onto the 1/2" drive - now you've got a very powerful drill motor.

This post is not intended as a recommendation. Just reporting how it's working for me. (edited title to ident as "Impact Wrench" - thanks Aaron)

Are you talking about he impact Driver or the Impact wrench? I own them both and they're both great, the impact driver is more for Deck screws, etc and the impact wrench is more for wheel lugs. Since you say half in drive i think you are talking about he impact wrench since the impact driver has a female quick release as it's attachment.

My dewalt impact wrench stays with the race car and toby's motor home.. which makes me sad sometimes since I find I actually prefer it to the air powered one at the house.

It's an impact wrench -- there are several 18V Dewalt cordless impact wrench models, but only one of them claims to tighten to 300 ft*Lb. It's more expensive than the others, of course. There is also a corded version that is much cheaper, but not as convenient for changing tires at the event.
