Cal Club Autocross Forums

Hello, I just moved here from Colorado where I autocrossed with the SCCA. I am planning on attending the event tomorrow but am confused about the whole morning and afternoon heats. How do I know which one I run in? (Running SM this weekend) Also, I noticed that the results show SMF but there was no SMF option when I registered, is this due to it being a PSCC event? I am an SCCA member but technically I am a member of the Colorado Region, do I still need a weekend membership? Anything else I should know for tomorrow that may be different from other regions? Thank you ahead of time and I look forward to racing with all of you tomorrow!

First off, welcome to Cal Club. We run all the usual SCCA classes, plus a few region only classes. The class you are running, SM, works first in the 4th run group (the first group after the lunch break) and runs the 5th group.

If you are a current, up to date, SCCA member, you do not need to purchase a weekend membership.

PSCC is a team or club that is part of the Cal Club region. They are responsible for organizing this weedends event. The Cal Club region of Solo is made up of several different clubs that typically cater to different types of cars. GRA is made up of typically GM products, Corvettes, Camaros, etc. Team Blew is made up of turbocharged imports. PSCC and CASOC contain a variety of cars. SCNAX is primarily imports. Team Cal Club is made up of people that do not want to belong to a formal club. The clubs rotate responsiblity for organizing the events each month.

For overall discriptions of how things work in Cal Club Solo, go to the Solo2.com web site and read the files in the Newbie Guide box on the right side of the web site. The documents there should answer most of your questions. If you have additional questions, ask at registration or most anyone in the pit area at the event. Everyone is pretty friendly and will help answer any questions.

SMF is missing due to an oversight when the new registration system was being set up. If you want to be in SMF, just tell registration when you check in and they will reclass you.

However, Time Only isn't really a class, it's just for people who want to run without their times going towards a championship. Their times will still show up on the final results/standings sheet, but they won't be included when calculating points for the local standings.

SMF doesn't have a huge following in our region, but we generally do have decent action in CST and CSM. Those are two local classes that are pretty much "run what you brung", with CST being for street tires and CSM being for any DOT tire (R compounds come to mind...)

Welcome to the region! Were you driving the red Civic in SM? How did you like the El Toro venue?

Also, with Time Only you can run in any group, don't have to run in the group where your class runs. So if you don't care about competition or your championship points, you can run TO.
