Gayle's Surgery

Mom's surgery went well. The doctor said she should have been able to fix most of the compressed nerves and the slippage of the discs. She said she was still in pain and could not get comfortable when I saw her, but she also had just had a pill and had been out of recovery for about two hours. Dad was giving her ice chips to help with the dry mouth/throat. She will be in the hospital until either Sunday or Monday. Thanks for the prayers and thoughts that were sent our way.

Gayle does know that we can (hopefully) get by at the next event without her, ie. she shouldn't rush recovery. Things won't run as smooth ... the lines will probably move slower ... there will be more confusion ... but somehow we'll manage ... I think. Do we have her cell number just in case?! I don't know ... have we considered postponing the event? I know it might mean moving back Nationals ... but are we sure we can get by without Gayle ?!?!? This could be bad ...

Seriously ... Gayle, you'll be missed, but we hope you have a complete recovery!

YAY, glad the surgery went well.

Maggie, are you going to be around next event? I just got more orange clothes to debut (I didn't even have to pay for these, I love gifts)!

but on a slightly more serious note, I have something for Gayle, should arrive in my mailbox before next event.

Please give Gayle, my best wishes. Praise the LORD the surgery went well, back surgery always makes me nervous. Look forward to seeing her in September at Auto Club. Agree with all the comments this is one you don't rush back from, better to have a long term view, which I know she does.

Mom walked twice today! Once to the door and then across the hallway, with help of the physical therapist's help of course. They took her pain pump away, but she is still groggy. She is still in pain, but seems to be able to get comfortable. She is sleeping a lot, which she really doesn't want to do so that she can sleep at night, but the meds are making her very sleepy. When I left, she said she was going to bed even though it was 3 and dad was dozing in the chair too. Thanks again for your prayers and kind words.
