Camera GOPRO HD, anyone have ideas on how to reduce wind noise. I like the view of the camera mounted on the roof.

My only decent run on Sunday: 55.7. The Vette desperately needs it's brakes bleed. First two runs I totally over cooked going into the slow turn around before the slalom.

Showing a bit more respect and distance to the cones after coning every run at the last two races.

I was just taking it easy on you guys. LOL (really I'm just a big chicken but it only cost me a couple hundredths according to the data).

You ARE using the Open Back? If the camera is in a wind stream, it's just not going to work great.
We went back to the Open Back, ie. for speeds under 100 mph, and were pleasantly surprised with the results, even though it was totally in the air stream. Sounds like it's picking up a lot of rocks hitting fender liner noise:

For perfect Pro sound results you need to stuff the camera in a furry wind sock like Henry does:
Various folks are experiment with enclosing the camera in various materials ... waiting to hear back on their results. But Fur is what location sound recordist use

Mako, I am currently using the closed back, are you recommending the open back? Where do I get the fur, is this just something I can pick up at Joannes or is it something special?

I'm recommending that you read what's on the back of your GoPro HD.
Those fur things are expensive from pro sound accessory stores, ie. $70 and a lot more. We need to find an alternative. Perhaps someone can start salvaging and skinning road kill on off weekends? :barf:

Mako, looks like synthetic fur will work. The shape of the GOPRO case makes the job a little difficult but my wife is a master teddy bear builder so she should be able to work the fur for me. Well see what she turns up.

You're right, those prices are silly. I'm going to go get some fake fur at Michael's and see if that helps with my Canon's wind noise.

hehe. I like the finish from the black car!!! exciting
Here's one of a cute little Yaris on it's 64 second pass. Yay! (Sound on my GoPro is set to Low, otherwise the wind noise is plain annoying)

I marked that "oops" as a DNF in the computer, but it's not a DNF in the results. Is it not supposed to be a DNF?

If the station 4 radio person did not record it then it may have gotten wiped out in the audit.
