I am about to start on rear wheel bearing replacement on my BMW 325. I do not have a special BMW tool ( $300) and will try to use tools I have ( not many)
The problem is that the bearing is inside the trailing arm and sometimes regular pullers don't work. I was thinking to take trailing arms/subframe off the car and replace all the bushings together with bearings. And because I don't have a press for bushings I thought of taking all the parts to someone who can swap bearings/bushings for me. Can anyone recommend a shop in Orange County that does that kind of work? I would think regular machine shop should have pullers/press to be able to do that.
I know John Edwards rebuilds engines, does anyone know if he does that kind of work? John?
Thanks,
Max

Most auto repair shops will press bearings if you carry in your trailing arms. A Harbor Freight press is @ $100.

JC's Alignment in Huntington Beach or Andersons in Garden Grove should be able to help you out.

Thank you everyone! I found Harbor Freight tools ( 3 jaw puller, slide hammer and FWD bearing tool), I'll buy them tomorrow and hopefully they will do it. If not I will take the arms off and then take them to JC's Alignment or Andersons. Thanks for your help!
Thanks,
Max

I can also highly recommend Unique Auto in Mission Viejo, Chip the guy who owns the place is a charater but honest and has a great crew. German cars are a specialty, alhought his renown if for VW. I am sure he can help you. You will have to be lizard friendly, his waiting room is a giant terrarium with an extensive reptile collection walking in and out.
