But why no mention about when SA95 will expire?

*M95 helmets will be eligible through 12/31/2010.
Ok, so M95 is about to expire, but M2010, M2005, and M2000 will still be fine.
But why no mention about when SA95 will expire? (I was expecting it to expire at the end of the year too)

Good question. I think the SA(Competitive Automotive Sports) requirements are higher although they are both 1995 standards.

A quick looks shows fire retardant materials and vision requirements are higher for SA vs M.
Impact tests are mentioned to be different but it's hard to see scanning through the long docs.

Probably just an oversight. I'm sure they meant the 1995 certs will expire at the end of the year. The rule book says, current (2010) plus the last two ('05 and '00), but every experation period since I've been around they extend the outgoing's cert to the end of the calendar year.

Probably a factor of when SA2010 helmets become available.
I know the testing procedure for SA is changing.
Perhaps their release is being delayed as a result and so the SA95 helmets will be legal for a bit longer.

Eye port for M helmets needs to be wider angle of view than SA.

SA2010 helmets have been released & are currently for sale on various sites.
