POINTS CARD RENEWALS - Year 2011

It's that time again folks (Oct. 1st), where the region is now accepting early renewals for points cards for next year (2011). A new supplemental rule/regulation will be going into effect in 2011:

NO MORE GRACE PERIOD....PERIOD!

As opposed to the 1yr grace period you were given in the past.

What does this mean? This means that if current points card holders, do NOT renew before New Year's Day (Jan 01, 2011), your number will IMMEDIATELY become free and available to the general pool of numbers for the public to choose from. This includes members who have numbers in the protected range of (1-199).

Now for these members who are in the protected number range if you do not renew and someone asks for it starting next year, it may or may not be given away based upon the regulations for those numbers. The leeway, the Executive Board has allowed me, is that only core/veteran members who've contributed to the region will get a protected number. Each request for one of these numbers is on a case by case basis that I evaluate, and if I need guidance will ask for from the Committee/E-Board then render my decision.

Also if you are a member who's number is currently in the "Expired - On Hold" status, your grace period has been cut short from 1 yr to 10 months. Your 10 months is now up and you have been given a 2 week extra period courtesy of the E-Board. I will hold the number until Oct. 14th. Starting on Oct. 15, if you have not renewed, I will make the number available starting NOW. That means for 2010 and forward anyone can get.

So if you're a points card holder in the protected range and have not renewed by New Year's Day, and a newbie member requests your number, it likely will not be assigned and you're safe. But if another core member wants it, I will give it away. You've been duly reminded (and warned :) ) 3 months in advance to renew. After that all bets are off.

To renew, visit the main site (Click on the CSCC logo atop or go to Solo2.com) and click on the left-hand side navigation bar link "PURCHASE POINTS CARD" and follow the instructions. PayPal is our friend and yours :) No need for stamps, envelope, etc...

Also new members you do get a 3 - month free card for the rest of the year (2010) if you sign up now for 2011. If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me at membership@solo2.com

Thanks,
Membership Chairman

P.S. - Already prior to my posting I've received 2 purchases (1 renewal, 1 new request).

In addition, the region does NOT take requests for "holds" or "layaway" plans for numbers (i.e. can you put such and such a number on hold for me 'til I can pay later?)

Also if your card is in "Expired-On Hold" status and you renew now, you are paying for 2010....NOT 2011. You do not get 3-months free. That applies to new members only.

You're welcome.

I was the one who originally suggested it and implemented to make my life easier and to make it convenient to our members. A win-win situation.

Attention to members buying multiple points cards for friends or family in the same household. Please use the "ADD to Cart" that PayPal provides, that way you can pay for your whole group (i.e. 2, 3, 4, etc.) points card in ONE PAYPAL PAYMENT.

Also please use the drop down lists I created to indicate what club and/or number you are renewing. If there is no change and you don't put it there, I can't read your mind, or then go searching for what club you belong to, and mistakenly renew you to the wrong club.

Thanks

REMINDER. Starting New Year's Day, if your points card has NOT been renewed, although it will say "Expired-On Hold", I will manually update the database to make it available per the new rules (like San Diego region), thus it goes back into the available pool of numbers. This includes those in the protected number range (1...199). So I beg of you....renew now! :)

And please save a tree....pay online via the PayPal feature, else if you mail a check I won't process it 'til I get back from holidays in The Big Manzana.

Hey Doug, yes I got it actually on Tuesday night, but didn't process it 'til last night. You should've gotten my e-mail reply. If you can use PayPal Doug, it's much faster.

Also to those who are buying more than one card (i.e. for other friends, and/or family), please use the "Add to Cart" feature. That way you make one payment only instead of separate payments.

Wow, just checked my e-mails (was at remote office location and no access to the web). Back at the main office. Nothing like a friendly reminder to light a fire }:) up people's ****es :) And how funny all the renewals have been from points card holders in the protected number range. You know who you are you slackers!

Thanks guys for the comments. I haven't competed in almost 5yrs since my Red E36 M3 days but yet I'm 'stuck' doing this job :) It's all good. Just feel I have more control over implementing this, than dealing with AXWare or MotorSportReg as I see what frustration sometimes Rick goes through and the users (i.e. you the points card holders go through) in terms of registration for champ events. PayPal is a god-send.

Way to go with the hard-line approach, Giovanni.

Maybe come Jan. 2 you could offer all those unclaimed 2-digit numbers to the highest bidder!

Geo, why don't you compete anymore?

Gio was a South American dictator in a previous life.

PayPal charged me $1.00 sales tax. Have we always paid sales tax?

This is from the PURCHASE POINTS CARD PAGE
To offer PayPal as a service, So Cal Solo II will charge a service fee of $1 per card.
So it's not PayPal charging you but us (CSCC).

Numbers aren't for sale :) Those numbers are achieved through contributing to the region beyond the norm. Now even though I'm not at events, and if I don't know you, usually I ask for referrals and the number is granted on a case-by-case basis. Now using you Doug, as an example, you're a automotive journalist, and did the article spread on my good friend/heckler Bill Schenker, in Road & Track (which by the way I did purchase the magazine) promoting our sport, so.... that is cause for your request to be granted if you so wanted a single-or-double digit number if it were available.

Thanks Randy. No east coast blizzard's gonna keep me from renewing points cards! I'm like the U.S. Postal Service! Snow stopped, winds died down so instead of a blistering 25deg F (14 wind chill), it's a balmy 40 degrees! Wow it's a heat wave in The Big Apple. :)

So remember folks....Friday (New Year's Eve) before midnight is your last chance (and I will use my e-mail timestamps to determine the order of who gets a number if there is a potential conflict).

That's mighty kind of you! But I've taken a liking to #300. Hope you enjoy the magazine...we're just putting the finishing touches on a graphic redesign (March 2010 issue).

Oops, I meant March 2011. And they pay me the big bucks to edit the magazine....sheesh!

Hey Bill, what do you mean more girls in bikinis? The raciest we get is models at the auto show. We're a family magazine, y' know.

So, it's not really sales tax, just the PayPal fee. Got it.
