When I was young, my dad & I would go to the back yard and practice plinking soda bottles and beercaps with a little bb rifle.
Are there any competitive shooting groups around that are like solo2?

It goes without saying that the two sports should be combined. Arm the course workers. That will get the adrenalin going.

Shooting clay pigeons sure is fun, not really like autocross though. Now I think about the guns I wanted (Beretta over-under) and then think of how many tires I could buy instead.

The Biathlon! What a great idea! But I sort of like the malt liquor idea. I think we'd have to rename our event the Urban Triathlon. First run group rests while bonging a 40 of Mickeys, second run group works works the course with automatic 7.62 and 9 mm weapons, and the third run group tries to drive through it all. One with the best time, the least number of bullet holes and most course workers hit wins. Pax'ed for amount and type of armor, of course.

My college swim team did a relay kinda like that once. Swimming around balancing martinis out of the water

Here is the idea I have been considering over the years. Paintball and Autocross. It can work!
There are two main variations. The simple one is this- Assign 3-4 course workers as paintballers. They will have a designated circle to stand in, with a spotter next to them. This will be 75 feet off the course. They will attempt to hit the car as it goes by. Cones down are 2 seconds. Paint splatters on the car are also 2 seconds. You can keep the windows rolled up.
Second variation.... you get two people in each car...the driver of course.. and a shooter. The shooter is given a paintball gun and his or her job is to hit designated targets. The faster you drive, the better the time, but the harder to hit the designated targets.
Last variation- Combine 1 and 2. The course workers shoot back and you get to shoot at them. Those shooter course workers can not leave their little circle.
Now we just add in balancing martinis on the cars... and we might have an entertaining mix.
