This is an interesting chart showing the price of gas each year graphed with the number of miles driven per year:

Thanks Wll,

Interesting charts.

Wish I could comment on the relationships between the increasing miles per capita being driven and van pooling, diamond lanes, higher taxes on gas, the national 55 speed limit (youngsters will not remember that one) but I'd probably stir up (gasp) controversy so let's just say very interesting find.

:)

WOW, 2002-2008, thats a spike! I wont be political about it, but I'm sure his dads stock holders were happy.

Since Feb 2010, where this ends, we've made it all the way back to a few pennies short of $3.00.

Think about how many airline miles we've probably lost since Fall 2001.

I <3 charts :).

My driving miles have drastically increased over the past couple of years despite going from full-time work to part-time work.

I'd guess a third through reduced passenger load and consolidation of flights, dropping of routes.
