Ponderings with 33 days until the new season

So as we turn our attention to the upcoming season, tuning and preping the car for another campaign I am led to ponder a couple of things.

If you run an event and your the only one in the event do you win?
If your the only one running how do points work?
I have run through the rule book a couple of times, can a wise old grey beard point me to the engine rules for BSP?
Is it better to run alone in a class or run in PAX despite being hopelessly out classed both in skill and car?
Can a BSP car run in ASP or SSM? If yes which is better running in one of those classes, PAX or running alone?
Is there a good way other than street racing to sharpen reaction time for the upcoming solo events?

I am sure I will think of other questions but I think this is a good start in my prep for the new season and first outside of Novice.

No, need minimum of 2 cars to qualify as a "class".

You can get your average if the class existed (two or more drivers) for at least 1/2 half of the events.

Basically internal must be stock, free external. http://www.scca.com/documents/Solo_Rule ... _rules.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; SP engine rules start on page 99.

Running alone sucks. There are other options like SM and CSM. If you run PAX, you just focus on the couple of people in front of you, not the leaders.

Not sure what you mean buy "street racing". I have always practiced driving the correct line when conditions allowed, regardless of speed. This will help you recognize and set up for the correct line without thinking about it at an event. Then adding speed is easy.

You need two for a class.

You get your average for an event with one (for open class).

Read the stock category rules for engine (13.10 on page 76) then read the Street Prepared category rules for engine (15.10 on page 99).

I would do neither. Find another place. You can run in California Street Mod. Or you can run as an XP or EM car in CPM. Or you can run SSM. Look at the cars entered in those classes and the see where you might find somebody to run against that would be fun. Pax will just be frustrating unless you're willing to say hey, I'm 18 seconds behind last month and only 15 seconds behind this month.... WIN!

SSM, but not ASP See above. Anywhere but pax is going to be better.

Computer games! iracing.com or something GT5 on PS3

And remember.... HAVE FUN!

Thanks for the response. By street racing I was refering to stop light drag racing. Gave up on that back in the 70's. But as I found out at the Pro Solo this year my reaction time is well really bad. I was starting on the first yellow and still coming off slow.

Totally intend to have fun. I can have fun just playing against myself trying to improve, however I really enjoyed the espirt de corp we had in novice, trying to beat each other, well rooting for each other and sharing what we had learned to go faster.

Looking at the various classes, it looks like CPM shows up at every event, and it's a spot where I can be competitive. Sampling results, I would have been 4th in May, 5th in July (although I won in Novice that day) 3rd in Oct, 2nd in both Nov & Dec. (unless of course I am looking at it incorrectly)

My first event was the late March "March to Remember" event, I think I am getting better so the late season estimated placing hopefully would be more a reflection of a competitive relation rather than deminished field.

Ah something more for me to ponder.
