Got a kart, got a kid, now what?

Picked up a Kid Kart last night on a pretty good deal, ready to race. I need to fit it to the mini-me though. If I move the seat position up about 2inches and pedal extend about 3inches we should be pretty close. He's really skinny to, so I'd like to look around for a tighter fit seat, where can we go try some out? Helmets too.
It's somewhat loud (Comer C50), probably just me not being used to them. I'd like to quite it down if for no other reason than my son can hear instructions better and we might get away with parking lot practice. I'm going to put a restrictor in for him to start with, I assume this will bring the dB down too. What else can I do?
Soon I'd like an expert to do a quick look over the whole kart to look for any potential safety or rule compliance issues for me.
Thanks,
Jay W

Eric Nelson has seats. Seventh-gear.com is his website, he's in Pasadena.
Bring the kart out to an event and there will be plenty of karters to check it out.

I have an old seat that's too narrow for my daughter. Have to see if I can find it.

The one on the kart is 10" at it's tightest, w/o padding. 9" is the smallest I'm seeing, with some liberal padding that might work.
Steven, let me know if you find it and bring it this weekend. I'll be inside the oval all weekend, but will pop over at least once.

No real hurry. Let me know if you get it down.
What do people usually do for pedal extension? Use a 'kit' or make their own?

Try checking out some karting shops.

I made my own, but acceleration karting is a good on-line source. For your many small parts, service and set-up help, 2Wild Karting is a close shop off Lake Forrest. Seems like I need to stop by there every week or so.

Thanks for the resources guys.
Little helmets at reasonable prices? Need a place to try some on, don't want to order blind.

We ordered the small childrens Bell helmet for Robert when he was four and it was two small for him, so it is tough to fit these kids. Cyan and Dane have very differently shaped heads from each other and they are twins!
I think HJC makes an XXS that might be available locally, but not sure where.

BTW-We got the Bell kids driving suit from Steve Coe (C2Racers) at a very cheap price. I know they aren't necessary, but I think them. The kids feel like real racers and they look cute. Steve also was the source for the helmet, both the one we had to return, and his current wild graphics Bell.
I got the gloves at a motorcycle shop. Same with the number decals (though you can do those yourself!) and number plates.
I got the chest protector and rib vest used from other fathers at the kart tracks, can't beat those prices!
For high top thin soled "karting" shoes. I found a cheap deal on wrestling shoes on Amazon.com

Doesn't K1 have a pro shop? The k1racegear.com site seems to have a handy selection, is this coupled to the race tracks?
