Like the title says, can SCCA move a car to a different class without notice? I just reviewed the 2011 rules, and found out that my S4 is now classified as an AS car. It was classified as an BS car in the May 2010 Fastrak, but no subsequent announcement of it being moved to AS. I wonder if this is an error on their part.

You just hit the jackpot. Half the BS field topped AS at Nats

If May was the first time its classed it can change that fast.

Please see Rule 3.2

New car makes, types and models will be classifi ed by the SEB as soon
as suffi cient information is available to do so. The SEB may reclassify a
car within the 12-month period following its initial classifi cation, without
the approval of the Board of Directors. “Initial classifi cation” includes
the addition of a new listing on an exclusion list. Initial classifi cation is
inclusive of a new listing on an exclusion list.

May still be worth submitting the question to the seb website. Mistakes have been known to occur.

Thanks Christine. I've already sent an email to Doug Gill. I'm hoping it's an error on their part. I just don't see it being an AS car.

It looks like it was probably a mistake -- nothing has been published in Fastrack since the original classification, which they would do if they were moving the car. The SEB has the authority to move a car without notice within 12 months after the initial class assignment, but they would announce when they made such a change.

On the other hand, being in AS is to your advantage if you're going after a trophy, at least until someone builds an AS car that's faster than the nationally-prepared BS cars. Even the PAX handicap isn't that different: 0.002!

Seems like it might be a better fit with the other super sedans in AS, also...

Well not just that but lots of changes (new calendars via Google). Just making it easier for our constituents George! I'm a public servant...here to serve the masses!
