Am I...

... just being drunk and stupid, or is this a BRILLIANT idea?

So my apartment is set up so you pretty much have to have a flat screen TV mounted over the fireplace if you want a TV at all. There's no space unless you do that. I currently have NO TV. And I've been toying with the idea of getting one, but eh... I have no time to watch TV anyway, so it's not a big priority (shoes, dresses, and car parts supercede), so I haven't gotten around to it in the ~6 months I've lived here.

Currently, sitting on the little mantle over the fireplace, I have the following gold peacock:

But that could easily go BELOW the mantle, in front of the fireplace (which I have no intention of ever using. It could function as a SCREEN, if you will).

So ANYWAY. The brilliant realization.

It occurred to me tonight that maybe instead of a TV over the fireplace... maybe a better idea would be a DARTBOARD! It seems to me like it would be super cool to chill on the yellow couch and drink beers and throw darts. From the couch. Tomorrow I'll probably get my wits about me and be all, "Ash, that's a terrible idea," so I figured I'd throw it out now. What do y'all think? Cool, or "drink some water and go to bed"?

How do you watch CNBC, Fox Business Channel, and Bloomberg without a TV?

Until Brian Williams mentions the smog and the crackdowns in ethnic provinces and the jailing of dissidents and the denial of visa's, and...... The screen goes to snow as the NBC feed is cut.

I've never been to the dunes nor ridden a quad. Unless you count riding behind a buddy's 8 year old daughter, which was terrifying--I was so afraid I was going to go flying off and take her with me!

Having once been an ignorant college student, I can tell you from experience that having a dartboard in your house is probably not a great idea, unless you put plywood to the sides, under and above it. If you're drinking and taking shots from the couch, you're gonna miss, and when you miss, you're gonna put holes in the walls. Miss a lot and you're gonna put a whole bunch of holes in the walls. This is especially not good if you rent. Better to put a dartboard in your garage.

BTW, watching hockey in HD is a particularly nice experience.

Plus, if you're throwing darts from the couch, once you've delivered the entire salvo, you gotta get up to retrieve them. Unless you tie strings on each one so you can just yank them back, of course. Hey, that's not a bad idea...

I considered this, but thought maybe many small holes would be preferable to a few LARGE holes from wall-mounting the HDTV.

But mmmmmm, hockey in HD....

One word for you: toothpaste. After we destroyed the dartboard wall in our off-campus house, we patched the holes with toothpaste. No one ever noticed.

You're the second person this week who's suggested that to me! I'll definitely try that when I move out.
