Bottom Line: 34% of the 2010 ProSolo Class Champions earned a portion of their points at the El Toro Pro. If you want to compete against the best drivers in the west, on a top-level course and surface, this is the event.

The Tire Rack SCCA ProSolo combines the excitement of drag racing and the skill of Solo on side-by-side, mirror image autocross courses. Lining up at the familiar "Christmas Tree" start, drivers compete heads up in various classes by combining their fastest times from each course. After class competition is completed, all ProSolo events feature the top drivers from each class, competing heat-to-head in a variety of single-elimination, handicapped challenges. The Gumout Super Challenge determines the Top Eliminator fro the event, the Ladies Challenge draws from the two Ladies classes, the Honda Tuner Challenge draws from the six "Street" classes, and the Bonus Challenge is for those who have not qualified for one of the other challenges.

Two At A Time - The ProSolo National Series provides National level competition is a series structure using all of the regular national solo classes. Entrants must be SCCA members; weekend memberships will be accepted for the series but not for the Finale. There are two Championships up for grabs in the ProSolo National Series, the Class Cup, where series points are scored based on the best two finishes of the first three events in class plus the championship Finale and the Challenge Cup, which counts the best two challenge finishes of the first three events in challenge competition plus the ProSolo Finale challenge finish.

The ProSolo National Series Championship provides opportunities and excitement for every level of Solo competitor. From the casual competitor that wants the thrill of "racing" against their buddy from a drag start, to the national level competitor wanting to run a limited series, to the accomplished competitor looking for the ultimate "Challenge". The ProSolo National Series Championship has something for every soloist!

Any word on whether we're running SK1/SK2 or not?

Yes, SK1 and SK2 are in for the Pro!
Sign up AM and put in the "notes" section which index and base class you want.

AM isn't a class to select at the Pro. Race Tire 1 instead?

That could be problematic. However.... AM is not a pro class.. but can you sign up for AM anyway?

Have the Event chair call Nancy Downing and have her add SK1 and SK2 to the class list.

I already emailed back and forth with Nancy about this issue, she said sign up for AM, which is possible for the Tour, but she was never really clear what to do about the Pro. All she said was that I'm 'all set'. I signed up in CS for the Tour, and that's where I still am. You can't change your registration on MSR once you register either.

These are all simple options in MSR. You can add any classes you want (although they don't actually understand the concept of PAXed classes and how they should be set up, but it can be done) and letting entrants edit their registration is an option the EventMaster sets.

So I've spend the last hour trying to figure out what class I would register in to no avail.

I read the rules:
http://www.scca.org/documents/2011%20Te ... 0Rules.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

but this is confusing as all hell when you have a customized car. I end up flipping back and forth between classes and invariably finding some rule I don't fit in (built this car for fun, not to compete) I think I might be XP but that doesn't appears to be offered. Most of my friends with similarly prepped cars are in SSM however, I have an engine swap. CST? No wait, that's regional only. :mrt:

I give up. I'm going to be a newb and ask for help.

1990 Mazda RX7 (started life as n/a if that matters)
Chevy LS1 swap (5.7L), heads and cam
DIY big brakes
Widebody
Full interior: A/C, radio, etc
Fixed buckets and 4 point harnesses (can hook up the 5th point if need be)
4 point roll bar w/ swing out door beams
Adavan AD08 street tires (180 tread wear), 295/30r18 all around
Wing (maybe, it hangs off the rear bumper)
Front lip
Coilovers
Custom swaybar
Fully registered and driven on the street

Forgive me for being frustrated but in this age of all things internet it blows my mind that we don't have a simple check list where I enter my basic specs and it spits out a class for me... Any chance I missed something obvious?

XP. You'll want to read the Pro Solo Rules. In Pro Solo XP is part of R1.

Joel, swapping the engine puts you in XP or a modified class, over 2.0l is EM. So look up the Prepared (Section 17) rules and then go to App. A for the weight and other requirements for XP. The same follows for the Modified classes, Section 18, Appendix A for the weight and other requirements.

Both are in R1 for the ProSolo....

It is impossible to be at a ProSolo and hate life at the same time. 8-)

Has anyone arranged for a place for out-of-towners to store cars between the San Diego Tour and the El Toro Pro this year?

Thanks!

Joel,

There's a proposal out right now to allow cross-make engine swaps in Street Modified, beginning in 2012. If you have an opinion on that, please write the SEB at http://www.sebscca.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

Other than your wing being behind the rear bumper, the mods you listed sound SM-legal.

Mike
