From an email to me:
we'll probably run in california this summer. we're in discussions with a couple of potential distributors in socal and if that happens there will be cars there. at the moment we don't yet have any customer cars down your way.

That would probably be a B or A mod car, since it uses a motorcycle based engine and was never a road going production car. Looks really cool though, I hope Karl makes it this way soon.

In DSR trim (under 1000cc) it would be B Mod.Sebastian Rios wrote:That would probably be a B or A mod car, since it uses a motorcycle based engine and was never a road going production car. Looks really cool though, I hope Karl makes it this way soon.

it's actually not legal for any solo class. it's only got a 68" wheelbase. Amod requires a 72" and Bmod requires a 80".Sebastian Rios wrote:That would probably be a B or A mod car, since it uses a motorcycle based engine and was never a road going production car. Interesting since Sports Racers have no wheelbase limitations. And I don't think F440 and F500 meet that for F Mod do they? How about FSAE?Marshall Grice wrote:it's actually not legal for any solo class. it's only got a 68" wheelbase. The blog states: "DSR Configuration complies with SCCA DSR class regulations".
There are maximum dimensions for bodywork. Minimum dimensions for cockpit.
I don't see anything for wheelbase other than panel percentages.

Re: A lil' news from Karl Asseily
solo rules 18.3 "B Modified cars must comply with the current year Club Racing GCR (except as noted by the Solo Rules, including Appendix A).
solo rules appendix A: "Modified Class B (BM) All Formula Cars or Sports Racers compliant under the current year GCR, unless specifically classed elsewhere, with the following exceptions (weights shown are with driver):
B. Minimum wheelbase of 80 inches.
There is an exception for going shorter if the car also meets the DM/EM aero restrictions...which that thing does not.
Notice I didn't say it wasn't a legal DSR car, it's just not legal in solo. You could probably make a case to class it as an FSAE car, but you'd also have to run a 20mm intake restrictor. :barf:

Have you guys looked under the Index at the top of that link and seen what the Dp4 looks like under it's wraps! Pretty neat. I just wonder about that ultra short wheel base on a road course ...
