Can't believe it doesn't come equipped with a Chase Cam and data logger or at least a coupon for a substantial discount to the buyer.

How many miles do these motors typically last?

If properly maintained, they last for ever. This a 92 with the long nose crank, which is better that the earlier cars. I would not be concerned about the mileage, as long as it runs sweetly.

Folks are tracking these Miata's with 200K on them! Karen's has over 100K and doesn't use any oil?!

So far, the worst-maintained one I've ever seen lost it's first timing belt at 190K... owner put a new belt and oil seals in, and it's running strong at 260K miles today.

Wow, this sounds like the PERFECT car for Kurt Rahn to buy for his son to go autoxing! You know, so he doesn't mess up the mini. Better than a rental Corolla! Paging Kurt Rahn.

I've already been pondering it, and trying to supress the urge. I'm afraid to even show to to him because a) he's persistent as a mofo, and b) if he starts kicking my butt in SK2, I'll be really disheartened and I'll never hear the end of it.
I'll show him tonight, I guess.

The car can be very instructive. He will have less time to get in trouble if he is working to get it ready for a race, may encourage hard work to earn cash, and if the title is in your name, can be witheld for poor performance. Just don't let it become a daily driver.

My parents paid for the insurance for any car I could afford to pay for as long as my GPA stayed over 3.0, it worked. My first BMW was a 1968 1600, in 1978.
I have done the same for my two daughters. Katie pay's the difference for her accident, but she has a 3.6. Laura finished her sophomore year with a 4.0.
Both are in college.
Carrot's do work.

Seriously? This car is still here?
This is a great deal folks! I need another Miata like I need another hole in my head but I would snap this up in a minute if I had the space for it.

This car did win the 2007 SK2 title in SD with Chris Cullen driving.

I think it also did the Kessel run in 17 parsecs. Not to be confused with the Keisel Run.

Um, isn't a parsec a unit of distance, not time?

If you know your Star Wars trivia, the reference to parsecs was because the ship could take a shorter route, that was how fast it was.
"Han Solo claimed that his Millennium Falcon "made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs". A parsec was a unit of distance, not time. Solo was not referring directly to his ship's speed when he made this claim. Instead, he was referring to the shorter route he was able to travel by skirting the nearby Maw black hole cluster, thus making the run in under the standard distance."
So in this Miata, one could straightline slaloms and bypass chicago boxes and get away with it. Just saying...

I bet this
Mazda could too.
but probably because people would be averting their eyes when the car got close, in fear of going permanently blind.
