Nice runs guys!

The camera angle on the second vid makes me feel like I'm ridding some kind of cockroach shaped hover craft :)

Loved this course!! Since I got the kart running better than it has in some time, and I actually drove a bit better, I wish I had video for once.

Thanks KJ

Second! I'm sorry that I didn't get around to thanking Mike and KJ and congratulating them on a great course in person. Fun and flowing, yet very challenging. Great prep for Nationals. Great job, guys!

Yeah, I'm still experimenting with camera mounts & angles! But nice run nonetheless, Jon!

Agree w/ Mark's comments about the course...very flowing, with a challenging pinch point at the Chicago Box.

I have no video to post cause I don't have a camera as yet. I'm a newbie, but I can already see the benefits. I'm looking at the GoPro Motorsports. What are you folks using?

iPhone 4 taped to my rearview mirror with blue tape, right over the screen. The camera hangs out to the left side and takes great forward facing video. I use a GoPro suction cupped to the inside of my windshield pointed at me for the driver cam. The GoPro takes a really wide angled shot, so it works well for that purpose.

In most of my videos, you can see the blue tape holding the iPhone to the rearview in the driver cam shot.

Edit: Another note, the GoPro records pretty crappy audio. In all of my videos I use the iPhone's audio recording as the audio source and delete the GoPro's audio track.

No problem, Jon. Happy to help!

Ed, my videos were done with the GoPro Motorsports Hero. I got the full kit with a seriously sturdy suction-cup mount, so any painted or glass surface is a potential mounting point. Agree w/ Jeff about the sound quality...it's average, but it still picks up the tires scratching off the line and some engine sounds. It does depend a lot on where it's mounted. I wish it had a separate input for an external mic.

I've yet to take a video in the camera's 1080p mode; they're all 720 (?) so far. I've read that the frame is less vertical in 1080 mode, but that's not a problem as there's more than enough vertical in 720. I don't know if 1080 is an advantage in YouTube playback...will it yield a better video? I'll have to experiment.

I really like the combination of my "roll hoop" mount and the GoPro's wide-angle lens, as it takes in the whole scene and really gives the impression of speed. From some angles, with some cameras, it can look like you're walking the course instead of driving through it!

With the GoPro, the 960p setting (r4) has the tallest viewing angle. The 720p (r3) has the same viewing angle in width, but is shorter then the 960p.

Here's an example of what the 1080p (r5) setting looks like, mounting on the inside of the windshield, just below the rearview: http://youtu.be/mitvemzXals?hd=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You can get a 960p GoPro for significantly cheaper than a 1080p GoPro.

Thanks for the video, Jeff. Excellent quality on 1080p, and the frame size is workable.
Won my GoPro at a press-introduction autocross a few months ago (Civic Si, Washington, D.C.). This autocrossing stuff pays off!

720p @ 60fps is the most pleasing to my eye after going through all the different settings on Don's Go Pro. In 1080, you experience some tearing on the screen & it's also a bit blurrier @ speed (some people see it, some don't).

No vids of our faster runs - SD card was full :(

Thanks, QV. I might try some from inside, and not have to worry about wind noise. With the transparent top, I've got a lot of latitude on where to postition the suction cup on the inside, and the Hero's got a mode to flip the video when camera is upside-down.

Stock Vette exhaust is so quiet...it's not that much louder with the top removed!! I'll have to do a rear-facing view near the pipes, just for chuckles.

And erase that card...I want to see videos from you!

A little late to the game....

This was my 3rd of 5 runs that I took in the afternoon (wasn't there in the morning). I didn't think it was that fast at the time, but @ 53.12X, I believe it was the fastest PAXed run of the day. I'm all over the limiter, as I set it about 500 RPMs lower to protect the new motor that was broken in that morning. With 4 MPH more in 2nd, and not running the heavy break-in oil, I think it would've been in the mid-52s :)
