An interesting opportunity

Hey guys, I haven't been around as much as I would like to be, but recently an interesting opportunity presented itself in front of me. I found out about a new show that will be on SPEED channel that was looking to cast amateur racers and drifters from the Socal area. You compete in your own car and run obstacle courses against three other contestants. I actually went and auditioned at the Paramount lot in Hollywood and they liked me, so they told me to scout out some more drivers of my caliber (apparently I have a caliber? :o ). Naturally, I thought about the very people who taught me how to autocross, so here I am.

The producers of the show are looking for a lot more people for the show. There are four contestants on each show and they said that they are filming 15 episodes. According to the casting person I've been talking to, most people who have auditioned so far have been nothing more than ghetto street racers. From the sound of it, anyone with as much autocross skill as everyone here should be a shoe-in for a show. Of course, since it is a reality show, they are looking for contestants with some amount of drama factor. The best part is that everyone wins cash. First place wins $10,000 (although the website says $25,000), second place gets $4000, third place, $2000, and last place, $1000.

So, If you don't mind auditioning in Hollywood and being around for 3-5 days to film the show sometime during September-November, and of course banging up your car, then check it out!

Here's a link to a preview of the show that they sent me. http://vimeo.com/26603609" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Also, the show's website is whippedtv.com. Or if you're interested just post here and I'll try and answer any questions or just contact JRP310@gmail.com (the casting person).

Here's something fun to think about. Which SoCal Soloer's would be the best reality TV stars?

Gio - Pretty boy
Joann L. - Unexpected speed
Theo O. - Funny foreigner

Now who could play the hate-able villain...?

That's too easy. Schenker already proved he can play evil in the Hunter movie. Seems perfect, an actor and a skilled driver.

The key line in the vid is: "are you willing to risk your own jacked up ride".

How about a mountain unicycle riding smartass with a thoroughly expendable Ford Escort GT?

I know such a guy.

:)

At the end of the first day of shooting, I convinced them to let the stunt driver sit around and I got to do all my own stunt driving for the rest of the shoot; that was fun!
