Casting call for an Event Chair. The "normal" rotation is a bit tired and quite frankly, it is good to get new blood in the rotation. In fact, over the past few years we've had a few new people step up (Kurt Rahn and Steve Towers come to mind - sorry if I'm forgetting others) and take on the roll and it has been overwhelmingly successful. I think if you ask them, they will tell you that it was a rewarding, eye opening experience on how the operations run. The Event Chair roll is actually pretty easy - your other chiefs take care of most of the heavy lifting. There will be a few decisions that need to be made either on the way or on site. But, you've got a lot of support around to help guide you and answer any questions you may have.

Theo, if you have any questions email me or give me a call. I've kept pretty good notes the two times I've done it. If you do it right, basically it's all prep work and good communication, then the event itself is just making spot decisions. I'm not sure I can make the practice, which is why I didn't volunteer.

I'm ok with the "eye opening experience", but still working on the rewarding part. Being an event chair certainly drove home the point that being a follower is what I'm best suited for. Leadership is not a resume line for me.
