Hi Everyone,

I am sure that you have read or heard by now that the Friday Practice was moved to Saturday and that the Ladies School has been combined into the practice. Mike Smith is the Event Master for Saturday. If you go to MotorSports Reg, you will see that Mike Smith has lined up different individuals to work in these roles. This Saturday, we will be having a teleconference to work out all of the details as to how this will all work out. I have indicated below who I believe will "off the hook" as well as the ones I hope I can still count on to help with the Ladies School. In any case, I want to thank all of you for volunteering. I deeply appreciate your support of the Ladies School and me and apologize for any confusion and inconvenience this change in plans has caused.

Chiefs:
Solo Safety Steward: Ken Lord - Off the hook
Chief of Timing: Mark De Shon - Off the hook
Chief of Gate: Ed Holley
Chief of "Check-in"/Registration: Gayle and Maggie Jardine - Yes -Please! I still need you! (Check-in on Saturday will be separate for Ladies School from the practice)
Chief of Workers: Steve Towers - Off the hook
Chief of Tech: Kurt Williams - Off the hook
Volunteer or three to help w/Tech: 1. Davin Swanson, 2. John Prosser - Off the hook (but we understand you are both still coming and we really appreciate that!)
Assistant Event Master - Art Rinner -Please see your Private Message from me.

See you all at the event!

I won't be in town this weekend for a change. Christine is handling Sunday, but won't be around the other days either. A number of people can set up the new lights/timer, very easy, but everything should already be set up from Friday, no need to put any of it away, just a matter of turning things on.

I've never done chief of workers before, but I'm willing to if you'll have me. Or if someone with experience steps up, feel free to put me in some other spot. Just let me know where you want me.
Also, Rick, if you're around Friday maybe I can peak over your shoulders at the timing system.

Lisa Severy wrote:Hi Everyone,

I need the following "chief" positions filled and will take other volunteers as needed to help ensure a smooth-running event:

Solo Safety Steward
Chief of Timing: Rick Brown (to be confirmed)
Chief of Gate
Chief of "Check-in/Registration: Gayle and Maggie Jardine
Chief of Workers
Chief of Tech (Which I run differently in that cars will be "teched" in Grid stalls)
Volunteer or three to help w/Tech
Assistant Event Master - because it is hard to instruct and run an event (Prefer someone who has run a school or assisted me before)

Thank you!

I look forward to filling these roles quickly!
I was Chief of Gate last month. I could do it again on Saturday if you'd like. Let me know.

If this is for Saturday only, I will volunteer to be your assistant chair.

Going to be gone all week. The set up is ridiculously easy. Open big plastic case on floor, back right of timing area. Tripods are in lid. Mount senders and receivers (with antenna, should be closest to motor home) to tripods. Turn on timer (switch on top/back). Turn on lights (push button on front). Set lights where desired, can be over 100 feet apart, point toward each other, generally does not require critical aiming. Light #1 is start, Light #2 is finish. Bottom right corner of small window on timer should show 1 and 2 to indicate they are aligned (X = not aligned or not turned on).

Batteries in timer were replaced near end of last event so should be OK all weekend. May want to put new batteries in lights (9v). Timer has a little icon in upper right of small display that flashes when a battery is low in any unit. Red LED on lights will flash is that unit's battery is low (supposedly at least 1 hour left).

New displays are in roof compartment. Mount on short poles (in other box with speakers). Connect to AC power (extension cord and power strip on roof, too). No power switch, connects automatically to timer.

I'm trying to get my wife to sign up, but if we do that tomorrow, I'll be happy to help how ever you need me. Last year, I did a lot of grid and had a LOT of fun, so I would love to do that again.

Cheers,
Collin

Can't speak for Grid, but we could use your help on the Gate in the morning on Saturday. See my thread on this subject if interested. We have WAY more FUN on Gate than anywhere else. :D

I've registered to drive, but I'd like to help out/shadow the safety stewardess to fulfill my 2nd shadowing event. Let me know how I can help. If there is a shortage during check-in, I'd love to help out wherever I may be needed.
