Is there a potential new 2012 great STR car?

In the last few years, the S2000/cr and the Miata seem to dominate the class. Is there any new 2012 cars out there that can be considered (potentially) a great STR car? Just curious :D Thanks

I thought STR was two seaters only.
The FR-S/BRZ is a four seater.

Not true at all, but I really have a tough time seeing the BRZ/FR-S being faster than a MX5 or S2000, although I think it would be a lot of fun.

It may well get classed in STR, but that remains to be seen.

I've been wondering why nobody has tried a 350 or 370Z. However, I've never driven one. So the answer may be obvious as soon as I do.

Leonard Baptiste did - I think he runs in in SM now after giving up on STR. Too heavy seems to be the problem.

Hi,
I really think the 3.2 Carrera is worth a shot in the class.
Only a little heavier than the NC Miata, and quite a bit more power.
Plus, it might actually go up in value over a couple of years of ownership as opposed to every other car in the class...

The third gen MR2 did well at Nationals when the course suited it. The Solstice held it's own for a little while as well.

Weight is a premium attribuite on street tires, I'm actually surprised the MR2 spyders aren't more common.

In the case of the 370... because it's not classed in STR.

ST is no longer based on objective classing (Four seats, non-sportscar, under 1.9 liters = You're In!). It's all subjective now - like Stock and Street Prepared - and STR was the class that introduced the concept to the category.

Hi, you should run Super Stock next year now that the 997 is in the class... do you want a co-driver?

I agree with Jayson, we should see more MR2 Spyders in STR. I know of a couple that are being built and the results are encouraging. When it comes to street tires, light is right!
Matter of fact, if anyone wants to give it a try with a fantastic car that already has some of the hard parts, mine could be bought (Doug Kott's old car)...heck, I'll even throw in the Koni DA's!
I love the car, but I've lost interest in ST*.

I like Roberts idea of Hi staying true to Porsche, but I bet he shows up with a MX5. :(

What shocks should one get for a SK2 MX-5, considering moving to STR later ?
