Meet at 7:30 am at our shop 15854 Strathern St. Van Nuys 91406
Bagels, cream cheese, and coffee for the first 100 people.

Rumour has it that people will be going on a drive afterwards (nothing to do with us, right?) . There is even going to be a suggested route available.

Yes, casual ... drive at your own speed, but don't be surprised if you get held up by slowly driven Porsche GT-3's ;)

Event starts at TRE Porsche garage in Van Nuys (street parking) ... with lots to see ... free coffee and bagels.

"bust/burst" of speed + Miata = does not compute

Damn you guys are a tough bunch. Yes I meant burst of speed & in the canyon for the most part as long as I keep the hamster moving fast on the wheel the Miata can be as fun as a 914.

Hi Kathy,

Is there a second drive? Sounds like they may try the northern mountains to the dessert, like they wanted to do last year, but couldn't due to ice : http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche- ... 1-a-3.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

I may go again if they end up doing the beach canyons.

We find the canyon runs to the North & East of LA better then the ocean side ones ... a lot less non-participant drivers/traffic ;)

We found the speeds surprisingly high, ie. trying to keep up with KJ ... and watching his daughters head flying back and forth in the back seat. Amazing she didn't get sick?! We found ourselves wishing we had set our shocks and tire pressures to auto cross settings. :?

... but one can drive at what ever speeds one is comfortable at.

We didn't see any traffic last time. I think the beach canyons are cleaner and warmer, than the mountains over Angeles Crest this time of year. Plus the south route cuts out a couple of hours of time for me.:) I ran more rear aero/grip, and softer for bumps. Also may want to protect your paint, some in the front group on race tires where throwing up a lot of rocks.

I "get" the Southern Route advantages for you guys ... it's great that you and KJ and the Teulle's even consider it!

I'm hoping for the northern route. Two years in a row of southern is enough - need a change of scenery!

... reminder :gpower:

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche- ... s-tre.html

I don't remember it being this long in the past, or ?
its about 110 miles to our lunch time destination, so about 3 hours with a couple stops for convenience and pictures.
It is inland, so our route should be relatively free of bicyclists (it has in years past, but ya never know)

The malibu mountains will be a zoo tomorrow, so we are taking our toys and going some place else - you won't be disappointed !

I beg to differ. }:) Although the 914 has a decrepit, two-days-from-retirement hamster.

We had fun ... Teulle's, Christopher's and us ... plus former Team Blew AX'er Chris Furia with his 997 mkII GT3. But it's been so long that I didn't recognize Chris ... especially before my coffee, and then I didn't run into him again. :(

One high light was the Jeff Zwart driven GT2 RSR that set the fastest production time ever at Pikes Peak this year, 11' 7"

The Course Instructions had what should have been a fairly obvious mistake right after we got onto the 405 ... Go West 118 fwy instead of East. That scattered the runners!

We recovered fairly quickly only to discover my iPhone was missing. We turned around to see if it was still in the gutter next to where we had parked at TRE Motorsports but it was gone. At least there wasn't a pile of broken glass, ie. maybe it will get returned. We hustled down the 14 fwy to get back on track ... having added 25 extra miles ... and rejoined the run at Sand Canyon off of the 14 (everyone else having taken Little Tujunga). Caught up with everyone at the Palmdale Albertson's rest stop ... and then continued to have a fast but safe run over the hills back to La Canada for lunch.

Keep this event in mind for next year ... neat run.

(ps ... after looking through the car three times, FOUND my iPhone on the forth sweep, back home?! ... jammed between the drivers seat and tunnel :? )
