2012 POINTS Standings

When would the "points" standings for 2012 be posted? Or, because we have only had 1 event, is it too early? Or are they posted, and I am just not seeing them?
well.. they'd be exactly the same as how you finished..Ed Holley wrote:When would the "points" standings for 2012 be posted? Or, because we have only had 1 event, is it too early? Or are they posted, and I am just not seeing them?
No...they would show points for all entrants in a class. This is something I'm unfamiliar with and want to see. So, what's the answer to my question. BTW, you haul %$# in the Max mobile. I think that was you.Aaron Goldsmith wrote:well.. they'd be exactly the same as how you finished..Ed Holley wrote:When would the "points" standings for 2012 be posted? I came in almost last... so probably not..Ed Holley wrote:No...they would show points for all entrants in a class. This is something I'm unfamiliar with and want to see. My car had four drivers last weekend... me, Tom, Christine and Aaron. Could have been any one of us I suspectEd Holley wrote:BTW, you haul %$# in the Max mobile. I think that was you.
If we are talking fast, I'm thinking ChristineMax Hayter wrote:My car had four drivers last weekend... me, Tom, Christine and Aaron. Could have been any one of us I suspectEd Holley wrote:BTW, you haul %$# in the Max mobile. I think that was you.
In STR, we all almost came in last. Then again, we all almost won too.Aaron Goldsmith wrote:I came in almost last... so probably not..![]()
i wouldn't expect to see any official points posted until maybe feb or march. It's pretty easy to follow along on your own for 2 or 3 events.Aaron Goldsmith wrote:well.. they'd be exactly the same as how you finished..Ed Holley wrote:When would the "points" standings for 2012 be posted? YOU don't think I KNOW that? What's a "drop"?Steve Ekstrand wrote:If you count in drops, the whole class is sitting at zero.

Code: Select all
Number of Events Number of Drops
1 to 3 0
4 to 6 1
7 to 10 2
11 to 13 3
14 to 16 4
17 and up 5
So what else is new!Bill Schenker wrote:...I know I'm in second!
And, of course, it had to be Davin who would respond (inside joke). So, oh wise one, the PURPOSE of "drops" is/are?Davin Swanson wrote:From the supps:
7.6 NUMBER OF EVENTS SCORED
A competitor shall compete in at least one half (1/2) of all Championship events held in the season to be eligible for yearend awards. A competitor will drop their lowest event scores at the rate shown in Appendix D. Any event for which an entrant qualifies for an average shall be considered an attended event.
APPENDIX D - CSCC Solo Number of Drops IndexSo actually, nobody's at zero yet.Code: Select all
Number of Events Number of Drops 1 to 3 0 4 to 6 1 7 to 10 2 11 to 13 3 14 to 16 4 17 and up 5
If you're interested in computing points on your own, the formula is:
100 - 400 * ( (driver's time - winner's time) / (winner's time) )
Right. And you're in what, 20th or something? So yeah, what's new....George Schilling wrote:So what else is new!Bill Schenker wrote:...I know I'm in second!
It just gives people the possibility of competing for a championship even if they have to miss a few events throughout the year. You drop your <see chart above> lowest scores.Ed Holley wrote: And, of course, it had to be Davin who would respond (inside joke). So, oh wise one, the PURPOSE of "drops" is/are?
Simply allows those strange people that have some sort of life outside of autocross to miss an event or two without penalty.Ed Holley wrote: So, oh wise one, the PURPOSE of "drops" is/are?
So...if I'm understanding correctly...let's say there are 14 events and I run 10 of them. I will have to "drop" 2 of my 10 events run. Is this correct? And let's say my closest competitor has run only 6 events. He would have to "drop" 1 of HIS or HER events. Is this also correct?Jeff Stuart wrote:It just gives people the possibility of competing for a championship even if they have to miss a few events throughout the year. No, your lowest scores are the 4 zeros for the 4 missed events. Look at it the other way. You are scored on your best 10 if we run 14 events.Ed Holley wrote:So...if I'm understanding correctly...let's say there are 14 events and I run 10 of them. 20th? I'm honored.Bill Schenker wrote:Right. And you're in what, 20th or something? So yeah, what's new....George Schilling wrote:So what else is new!Bill Schenker wrote:...I know I'm in second!
Jeesh! And I thought driving and course reading were the hard parts. Thanks Rick, Jeff and Davin. I think I've got it now.Rick Brown wrote:No, your lowest scores are the 4 zeros for the 4 missed events. Look at it the other way. Now for the math portion of the exam...Davin Swanson wrote:100 - 400 * ( (driver's time - winner's time) / (winner's time) )
