Any good recommendations for good/inexpensive car insurance and/or agents? I want to use State Farm, but they are just getting too expensive...

I'm not a homeowner, so can't use that for any discounts.

We're with Auto Club. Not necessarily cheapest. But we hear Allstate is very agressive these days.

Have you tried a quote from Esurance? Allstate owns them now.
Full coverage on my Volkswagen GLI, Hyundai Accent and Nissan 240. $133/month
I am surprised the GLI is cheaper to insure than the Accent.

I was with esurance for my cars and Progressive for my motorcycles for quite awhile and it seemed pretty good, but recently switched all vehicles (2 cars and 2 high performance motorcycles) to AAA and saved a good bit of money.

I'm on the esurance/Progressive boat you left--
I'm currently waiting on my 1 year motorcycle experience mark to move everything over to AAA for a better deal. The agent at my AAA office said they only insure riders that have been on the road for a year or more.

My brother-in-law, Mark, is a broker and he can get pretty good deals. Mark Abernathy, mark@abernathyins.com, 626-241-9654 office, 626-253-4254. I think he insured the CTV a couple years back. Plus, I've been trying to get him to come out to play with us...maybe if he got some quote requests, he'd do it :gpower: :gpower:

My friend Christina Lee is a Farmers agent. She was able to get me better rates than if I had stayed with Progressive (7 year customer). Let me know if you want her info

A buddy used to work for Wawanesa Insurance, but he used AAA for his coverage. I've had AAA since the 70's, best money spent.
If you want service and great coverage on car and home, use AAA. If you're just trying to save a buck shop around.

Though some read my post with the less that spectacular offer on the totaled Integra a few years ago... The biggest issue was I couldn't find a car in similar (aka excellent) condition to base the value on. Everything I found, and they found, was a beater. Additionally, that poor Integra was involved in 9 separate accidents in it's life, including two near totals, prior to the one that did it in. (always hit-ee, never the hit-or). I bet none of you would have guessed that based upon it's appearance.

I never had to meet with, or wait on an appraisers review (I've hear horror stories from others). AAA would tow it to a shop, and typically had a rental car waiting there for me (us) from enterprise upon our arrival.

I'm still with AAA. Currently dealing with a HO claim with a busted pipe under the slab. Best part of AAA is their instant approval program. I have NEVER had to wait for an adjusted to come and look at a car, or now the house. They have companies that are allowed to provide on the spot approvals of work to be done, and start working same day.

AAA's always been the lowest price (I get quotes every couple of years, just to verify),and would be worth a little extra even for the ease and simplicity of working with them. Very happy customer since '91.

I can recommend two. Mercury purchased through Auto Insurance Specialists. (The broker makes a big difference in price). I compete my insurance regularly and haven't found anyone better. AAA did well for my daughter when she left my policy, and she liked thier payment plan. They weren't able to beat Mercury, but that was to be expected.

Do note that some insurance companies for whatever reason do discount for alumni associations or professional orgnaizations or associations. Last year I joined the Cal State Fullerton Alumni association becuase my agent pointed out that I could get a discount that exceeded the amount it cost me to join.

I've been very happy with AAA.

Was with Farmers for years, but when I had a second water claim in one year and the idiot from Servpro saw some mold on the wall under the sink--that was there when we bought the house three years before--he reported it to the insurance company. Didn't matter that it was there long before the hot water heater dumped into the kitchen. So, Farmers sends some special claims adjuster with a prosecutorial attitude. I almost threw him out of my house because he kept repeating that they didn't cover mold, to which I kept saying that I wasn't making any claim for mold because it had been there for three years.

CAR INSURANCE??? Dude, the way you're driving, you're gonna need life insurance. SOMEBODY is bound to put a contract out on you cause that may be the only way to beat you.
