Can anyone recommend a good sports medicine doc?

I need a sports medicine doctor in or near Orange County. The urgent care doctor I saw on Saturday thinks I ruptured a spinal disc, and I (a) need to see someone to confirm this and form a plan to deal with it and (b) need to renew some prescriptions, if they're appropriate.
The closer to Tustin, the better!
Thanks for any suggestions,
Mike

I know a really good one in Pasadena if you get desperate enough to come that far north.

WTF were you doing?!?!? I thought the loan business was for the most part a non-contact type of deal.

Probably hurt his back carrying all that sand that was in his trunk at the ET Pro!

Nationals setup in Lincoln. The first stack of cones I lifted made something snap in my lower back, at the same time it felt like a knife went through me.
Perfect timing...
On a lighter note, the urgent care facility next to the grocery store (IGA?) had no waiting and took great care of me. Don't hesitate to use them if you're injured on site at Nationals.

Are you sure you weren't just in the hardware section of the grocery store? So sorry to hear about your back, Patch!

Sorry to hear about your back Mike! You've got to let the younger guys do the heavy lifting. ;) I'll ask around.

This is the number of the chiro (Jeff) I went to when I had back problems (compressed disk).
((949)472-4007.
I liked him and he really helped me. He is located on El Toro.

Mike, here's a recommendation from a reliable friend of mine. This Doctor sounds like what you're looking for:
"Dr. Bhatia ... Director and Chief, Spine Surgery at UCI Medical Center and the same doc who put the Angels player back together from a near decapitation. Our medical consultant here, who literally wrote the book on orthopedics, considers him one of the top spine guys."
Dr. Nitin Bhatia
949-515-5210
1640 Newport Blvd.
Suite 230
Costa Mesa
Hope this helps,
Rick

Don't let a surgeon doc talk you into surgery off the bat. A follow up study (med journal stuff) showed that a year or two out the "results" of surgery vs. non surgery in terms of pain & mobility were about equal.
Good luck, I had an L5 herniation & no surgury & feel great years later. Lot's of "proper" exercise though.

Thanks Rick. I just scheduled an appointment with him tomorrow. That's *much* better than the office that told me June 6th is the soonest they can see a new patient...

Just a note, the Angel's player died, effectivally at the scene, along with two others in his car. Jon Wilhite is the sole survior referenced, played at Fullerton.

Suggest you Google "non-invasive spine surgery" and read up on it. There's lots of new precedures available these days. Might be useful if you can ask knowledgeable questions.
'nother recommendation if you need it...not so close. Dr William Dillin, Kerlan Jobe Clinic, near LAX.
