Just a co-incident that after Jeff's SCCA SuperSchool, Karen and Jeff's 2 hour Enduro on Saturday and Jeff's first SCCA Regional race last Sunday ... it looks like we need to get our 5 spd rebuilt or replaced. (5th has been getting very notchy for a while now)

What do folks do? Rebuild ... by whom, Philip suggested Aamco.

Replace with a used of unknown quality?

For normal re-builds I've actually had pretty good experiance with them. It probably depends on the particular franchise, I use one in Garden Groove. Rebuilt my MR2 a couple times, and did some work, including a light weight flywheel on my race dakota.

:heyes: Rocky has his own shop now! I met him several years ago when he was with Larry Dennstedt & my diff went. Not sure whether we can swing the trip there & back from LA yet tho.

Larry retired and Rocky took over the shop.

+1 for Rocky. He is very good. If you can bring the transmission to the El Toro ProSolo I can drop it off at Rockys for you.

re used... I bought mine from this Los Angeles Miata club member: http://www.sportimports.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

he had over 20 Trans for me to choose from, had documentation of mileage of the cars when purchased as salvages, before dismantling with vin information. Still in SD from Tour as I type this, and actual info is at home, but I think mine had 30k ish miles on it.
