Attention Drivers!

Registration for the "Inside" practice is now OPEN. Register early, as the practice is limited to only 60 drivers per day.

Link to Registration

Entry fees are $60 for a single driver, $80 for a shared entry.

This year's inside practice will again have NO WORK ASSIGNEMENT for entrants. Also much of the proceeds will be going to the charitable group AbilityFirst of Long Beach.

Expect about a 30second course and 16+ runs per day.

FAQ
No work!, how are you pulling that off?: CalState Fullerton FSAE is providing workers all day for this practice. Be sure to look for them off-duty and say thank you.

Who's AbilityFirst?: AbilityFirst provides recreational activities for the developmentally delayed community. Some of the participants are planning on coming to Saturday's event to watch and ride shotgun!

Where is this?: At AAA speedway, but not on our 'normal' lot. Head inside the oval and our course and paddock space will be obvious.

Why haven't I heard of this before?: Because I've been really busy, leave me alone.

By the way, I can still use a Safety Steward for this weekend. I've got back up plans, but would rather not use them if I don't have to. Please e-mail me to volenteer, I bend over backwards to make it easy on my SSS.

Here's a link to some picture of the benifactors enjoying a little AutoX last year:

I forgot about the kids. What day and time do they come out. I'll sign up one of the days just to give some rides to the kids. In fact, I live very close to the Ability First facility and would be happy to transport a couple kids if needed.

I think Saturday is their plan. I'll firm that up, but it'll be subject to change.

BTW, I call them "Kids" too, but they're all adults. Its easy to forget when they have such child like enthusiasm for the simple things.

Keep me posted Jay. I don't want to stay all day, but I would like to be there to give some of our guests some rides.

Slow, but steady entries coming in. Sunday is shorter that Saturday. I'd expected after this weekend we'll see an uptic.

The AbilityFirst clients are suppose to be coming early to mid-day Saturday.

Bump for attention.

We're doing better than last year, but definitly can use more entries. Saturday is beating Sunday about 2:1, so if you have no preferance, go Sunday.

Ping all those neighbors and co-workers who see you every month with a sun burn and say "one of these day's I'm going to come join you". It's not going to get any better for a try out.

The Club racers have told me they'll be holding the track tour on Saturday again. I'm not going to make any claims on the entertainment value of this, once it was hyper fast, once it was hyposlow. But if you've never been on the AAA road course, its worth doing. We'll take our lunch break around the track tour, but not really hold up for it.

The Roval Laps were definitely fun if you've never been out there before ... I think it got Karen into doing Time Trials, etc ... so be ... warned:

No cooking. I'm assuming the track vendor will be open. There's plenty of run time to make your own lunch run time though.

The track side "cafe" is awful ... although for some events they bring in an outside BBQ vendor.

I don't get it. Buttonwillow and Willowsprings have very good snack bars ... why can't AAA Speedway?

Thanks George. I know it's not rocket science. I must have been looking at the wrong list. Appreciate you checking for me.

This is the most fun practice I have ever been at. Not a long course, but you are rewarded for no mistakes. You are further rewarded by taking the people from a
Abilities First on rides. I have never had more fun.

Thanks Jayson, Nic, Seb and Shauna and the crowd from FSAE Cal STate Fullerton for working all day. I got in about 20 runs by 1:45 including runs with Abilities First Staff and Young Folks. I still made good time with 3 passengers and loved hearing screams and yelps of joy while driving.

I am looking forward to next years event.

I hear if you show up tomorrow there is plenty of room for people to have fun and practice on a 35 second course
