Hi all,

I'm about to sign up for the Nov. 3rd event. My usual run group (RTR) runs in the afternoon, but due to a prior commitment, I can only attend if I'm finished by the end of the morning run groups. My question is: is the PAX group is usually reserved for the top drivers, or can anyone who cannot/does not want to run in their normal group run in PAX? PAX would be my best option for a morning run group, but I could always do CST if PAX is out of the question.

PAX is open to anyone Brian. The competition can be tough, so don't be surprised if you aren't at the top of the pack.

That being said, I think you should confirm with Rick Brown how to sign up in PAX under your RTR index. I'm hoping MSR and our timing software won't have a problem with indexing you properly. Regardless of that issue, I'm sure Rick can make it work for you.

You can also contact your RTR competitors to allow you to run out of group; you'll run/work in the morning but still have your competition time against RTR instead of PAX/CST.

I am confident Rick will correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure selecting "PAX Indexed Class" in the first box and "C-Stock (Novice StreetTire)" in the second box will make the math work correctly, since the Novice StreetTire classes have the street tire modifier baked in. Whether or not that's something that is "allowed" is beyond my pay grade. (It should be IMHO )

However, I'd personally do what QV suggested.

Seems like the easiest thing to do is run in the PAX group under the RTRCS index. I'm not very competitive at all, so I won't even worry about trying to get my results in RTR. I'd probably be pretty close to the bottom anyway. See you guys on the 3rd!

I'm not sure how many people usually run in RTR, but they may appreciate you running in-class but out of group - if it gives them enough people to have a class. If you were to do that, don't sign up for PAX. Sign up as normal and then remind the event master (me) and timing/scoring that you're running out of group but should be scored as RTR.

Usually RTR is one of the bigger groups, but it would be nice to be scored with them if it's not too much trouble for anyone. I'll sign up normally, and let them know at registration that I'm running out of group, go to the trailer before I run and let them know as well? Is that where you'll be? And should I just pick any heat to run with, or would the PAX heat just make the most sense?

Yeah, I'll be easy to find. From our perspective, the best thing it to have you work in the group that needs workers (assuming we have one) and have you run accordingly.

I know now, so no need to tell anyone else since Timing & Scoring is the only one that would probably notice. Maybe the grid person.

K.J. I know noise levels (93db) are too low for your car here in San Diego. What's the db min. up there? Too bad you can't come down anymore. Richard

Currently, we run at 100db @ 50'. That will likely decrease slightly in 2015.

I plan on coming down to SD more. Last year, timing really didn't work out well on a lot of events. Hoping 2015 works out better in that regard.
