WTB cheap Hardtop

Post by Jayson Woodruff »

I won't have the funds for a couple weeks, but want to start probing.

I need a budget hard top for the new miata. Has to be OE, no knock offs.

Paint doesn't need to be real clean. Don't need a window or inside latches (need rear 'hooks' though).

Cheap is the operative word.

Good luck. I spend 2 yrs finding mine. What I discovered in my search:
OE nice condition $1100-$1200
OE ruff around the edges, but everything there $1000
OE Bad, missing stuff like window $1000
OE cracked, badly patched $1000
OE broken,missing chunks $1000
Aftermarket any condition, see OE prices and descriptions (aka) $1000

It appeared in LA there was a $1000 floor under the hard tops, no matter what they looked like. Nice ones were rare, but only had a slight premium on them.

Ask Henry Bjorn - when he bought my old car, it came with a hardtop (red). He might be willing to part with it.

I saw $700 for rough ones last month when I had a bird in the bush. I'm hoping for that again.

800 for one with no rear glass. Not cheap, but maybe you can haggle with him?

Yeah I just saw that. What's funny is I live 40miles away, but happen to drive with a quarter mile of the guys house today.

Good on budget, but I have to wait to get paid!

IRS gave me back my money, so I'm ready now. The craigslist one is gone. Can you send me contact info. I need to hit one lead first though.
