Hello All, as my role at work has evolved, so have my needs for a dedicated DD to put a ton of miles on. Looking for something (preferably) under $3000, with a clean title, that will pass smog (get in and go kind of car) with a manual transmission. I underlined that last part for emphasis. ;) Does not have to be fast, sporty, or what have you. Looking for reliable, and good MPG, and generally cheap to run, at the expense of style, and performance. Perusing Craigslist for the past two weeks and have yet to find a winner/seller who isn't a flake. Cash in hand, etc., etc. If you, or anyone you know is selling some cheap wheels, please let me know.
Thanks,
- Jake

From add: "4speed with overdrive."... "Gets good mileage because it's a stick shift."
I know these sound in contrast with each other, but back in College I had a friend with one of these Volvo's. Most bazaar thing I ever came across, A manual with over drive in every gear. So the four speed was really an eight speed. Way ahead of it's time.

I had an 83' 240 station wagon with that transmission; it was a 3 speed manual with a sometimes working electronic overdrive that you'd have to press. I often cruised at 4k in that car, it was like driving a 4ag.
