Need some advice - new to LA

Hello,

I recently moved to Torrance, CA from El Paso, Texas and need some advice about car storage. I would like to bring my STS Miata from Texas but don't have a place to park / store it.

Is there a good indoor place to store my car between the So Cal Solo event sites that isn't too expensive?

Thanks in advance,

Danny

Welcome to California Danny.

What's not too expensive? If I were you, I'd look for a private party in you area will to rent a garage. I may have one coming up in Long Beach, about 20 minutes from Torrance. Rent is $145.

When I was in college I rented a 6 car garage in Burbank. Then rented out two spaces in the garage to a high end car collector, that paid for more than half the rent and left me with 4 spaces for my toys. ;)

Fun part... My landlord was Robert Gottlieb. He was the first general counsel of Peterson Publications (Hot Rod Magazine). And one of the founders with Peterson and Parks of the NHRA. Also was on the founding board of the Peterson Museum. He and his wife were amazingly cool people to meet and hear stories from. Most landlords would go nuts to find a college kid who wanted to sub-lease spaces to fund his hot rodding exploits and work and weld on projects. Mr. Gottlieb was ecstatic. He'd roll up in his red Rolls Royce Corniche convertible and offer a hand. His wife would roll up in her white Rolls Royce Corniche Convertible and go, "Oh Robert, you're getting dirty, let me go get your overalls."

Welcome to Torrance from another STS driver.....

I am close to where PCH and Hawthorne intersect.

The obvious solution is to take on a co-driver who has a 3-car garage. Hey, we're a pretty big region.

Thanks for the tips guys!

Pete, we may be neighbors. I rent a room on Newton St. and work at Edelbrock. Call me at the office with any STS tips or to chat anytime. 310-781-2222.

Been busy with my move and haven't found a place with a garage to bring my STS car out. If anyone has a co-drive available, I would appreciate the opportunity. If someone has a garage and a helmet, I offer my car for use.

Thanks,

Danny

Thanks Rich! I look forward to meeting you. I've had the pleasure of meeting Pete.

I'm running back home in Texas with my son this weekend but still need to get out to a LA area event, even if just to watch.

Let's get together sometime!

Danny
