Quick heads up about May 23-24 event and Bimmerfest

May 23 is the Bimmerfest event at Auto club speed way, this event attracts any where from 1,500 to 2,500 or more cars. These people can make traffic entering a venue a nightmare! I have been to a half a dozen or so of these. They start arrive hours before the event gates open filling turn lanes and approaching streets, lines have stretched for miles. Once the gate opens you have people driving to the front making illegal (cut in line) turns and more it sucks.
They are also having a track day hosted by speed ventures that same day which may draw more people to the event.
Who ever is the contact for the club to Auto Club speedway may want to see if we can open a back entrance. In the morning this will be like having an auto-x and NASCAR race the same day - not sure the speedyway knows this and has planned for it traffic wise.
Just a heads up - if this has already been worked out sorry for starting the thread. If it has not our event may not start on time due to people not being able to get in and to tech in time. Daryl

I am also curious about this. My E21 will surely get lost in the sea of other BMWs as I'm trying to get to Practice.

Bimmerfest attendance should result in forced sterilization.
Whatever money the speedway is getting isn't enough to justify holding that event.

I was there once for a Speedventures autocross on the same day as a national Mazda RX-* meet and it was a pain getting in. I'd imagine Bimmerfest would be much worse.

We've got access via Gate 7, off of San Bernardino near Commerce. I'll be emailing all those who registered directly, but since you've got a good placeholder thread, I'll put it here too.

This is another reason why we like people to pre-register on MSR. Besides making our event planning easier, we can email blast all entrants with important info when necessary.

Bimmerfest! How exciting. Get to see all my BMW bretheren! I'll be handing out fliers with Steve Ekstrand's face on it. "Have you seen this man? If so, run away or be doomed to a life of Civics"

I LOLed very funny - I can help with some of the printing....
KJ thank you it will be much better - may want to hide this though in case any bimmerfest people are lurking around....

Dad retired after more than 25 years at BMW. Now I don't have to hold back about how I really feel about Bimmers and Bimmer street drivers. I like Bimmer racers though.
Just last week an M5 tossed it into a lane change and barely saved the resulting tankslapper. Ended up one car ahead of my Ram 3500 while risking the freeway pile up. Get off the Freeway and driving through San Marino an M6 whips around me into oncoming traffic to reach the left turn lane. Just as a gorgeous 30's classic turns the corner right into him. Not sure how they avoided each other. What does Jeremy call Bimmer drivers?
Apologies to Sheldon and his girly Z4 and Tadd with his X5M and lowly dad with his CooperS 4 door. ;)
We traded our lemon 335 for a Town & Country which is equipted with functioning fuel pumps unlike the bimmer.
Every year I play the Pasadena City golf tournament which used to correspond with Bimmerfest at the Rose Bowl. Can I say asshats on this forum?

Revised Gate 7 map that doesn't take you into the infield of the track. Talking with the gate guard last weekend, there is going to be something like 6 different events going on this weekend, including the drag strip which will also be using Gate 7. So allow extra time to get in.

You'll like this. They really try to shove this down your throat at the dealer. That's why I go to an independent or do the work myself.

Will this gate be used for Sunday as well?
Or is it just a Saturday remedy to avoid "bummer"fest traffic...

I just google mapped in street view from freeway exit to the gate so I don't get lost tomorrow.
The sign seems to say that is Gate 6.

The street view image is from March 2012.
In the past year I know the lots have been renumbered, gates may have been renumbered as well. I think the info on our map was direct from the speedway this week!
But regardless the number, that's the proper gate location.
